I've been debating even making this post, as it will contribute to the "wtf is wrong with your game, @MrCatPants?" but I am stuck on the proper next course of action and would like some opinions.

Some of you may have noticed I had posted a semi-innocuous response in another thread talking about my last game that "I have a new worst thing that has ever happened." Well, here's what happened and what I'm thinking I'm going to do.

Hosted a muti-table tournament - we are in the cash game post tourney completion, so only about 7 of us are left out of the original ~20, and I have yet to use the restroom all night. I get up to go and clearly notice someone has significantly spattered the wall next to my toilet (about a good two feet away) and attempted to clean it using the paper handtowels I set out, but since it is builder grade paint is does not 'clean' well and there's clearly a major stain with a epicenter and significant corona of spatter. I know we all assume it's probably pee, but I don't know if it was vomit, a spilled drink, etc. I emerge befuddled and bring it up because I'm assuming the wall pee-er/puke-er would already have left. Based on the reaction, I believe that supposition is correct. I ended up having to repaint my bathroom the next morning - if my wife had noticed she would have lost her shit (and rightly so). I have not received any sort of communication or apology from anyone after the fact (I get why if someone did it accidently they may have just left and not wanted to bring it up with a large audience, but not receiving anything after is...troubling). I've done some soft feelers with more trusted regs, but no clear feedback.

I have debated sending out a note before my next tournament (as that crew does not fully overlap with my cash crew) with a 'hey, here's what happened last game, can't believe I'm saying this but please respect my house, yadda yadda - something like this cannot happen again' but 1) not sure that will help anything and 2) unsure if I should be actively trying to determine who this was, whether 'unfortunate accident' or negligence and 3) not sure if publicizing with my crew is the right move/if it makes it weirder or not. It's really fucked up.

What would you do next with an established group?

Are there drugs or booze involved?
There are no drugs involved but that doesn't mean someone didn't pregame. I have my suspicions on one attendee in that regard, but no idea if it's correlated.

Booze yes, but don't remember anyone being hammered - and there's only one guy that ocassionally gets too hammered. he busted first so didn't have time to really drink.

19. You can cross yourself off the list :cool
Can we?

Oof that sucks. I'm more of a smartass so next poker game I'd line the bathroom in plastic liner and make a poster with arrows, but that's just me.

The fact that they tried to clean it up probably means they feel pretty bad about the whole situation.

I'm absolutely sending out a note before the tournament mentioning what happened and how you had to clean it. Hosting is often thankless and that's fine, but that's another level of ridiculous.

Ask some trusted close friends/players if they have any idea what or who happened to the wall. Put some feelers out for the Phantom Shitter.
edit: just read that you've already sent the feelers

i thought about the poster idea. Like pee does not go here pee does not go here pee goes here. but seems a little passive aggressive. would rather be assertive.

Agree with the responses so far. When you send the invite for next game, add a footnote that, while it doesn't call out the incident specifically, will let everyone know to please respect the house and to clean up after yourselves, and to please come to you ASAP for any issues that are unable to be resolved on their own. Honesty is the best policy, but if the facilities and property are not going to be respected, that the occurrence of future games is in jeopardy.

when stuff happens at my game, I send an email to everyone (BCC) and sometimes I get replies, sometimes I don't. my wall also resembles some misses, but not sure if it's players, kids, or both. I've tried to clean, but it will also need to be repainted at some point.

I think it’s fair game to bring it up for sure, even in a generic way (eg. please keep it neat in the bathroom/house), especially if you’re comfortable with the guys you play with.

I once had someone puke in my fenced in backyard without telling me. Messaged everyone in a group chat the next day after my dog tried eating it and the guilty party fessed up (privately). Its awkward but getting it out in the open is probably the best way forward.

I once hosted a 39 player tournament. Once.

When I had to clean a puddle. Not a little dribble. An actual puddle of pee during the first break I knew I would never host a game that big again.

Unfortunately a lot of guys think they can piss while still drinking a beer and scrolling FB at the same time.

Definitely say something like the good @DrStrange said. Not saying anything only makes it worse. Also, put some extra cleaning supplies, Clorox wipes, roll of paper towels, some disinfectant spray etc in the bathroom so if someone does have some kind of accident they can clean it up without any embarrassment of having to ask you. And make sure to tell the players they are there and to use them.
