Someone local is selling a set of these chips. Nearly 700 chips, 6 racks, and a 1,000 chip acrylic case for $50. I know they are metal insert. I just bought a set of Majestics for my regular game, but thought these might make a nice spare set? I figure the case and racks are almost worth it.

Go for it. 7c is a decent price for the chips, and the carrier/racks are worth the $50 asking price.

Definitely agree - go for it. If you decide you don't like the chips you can throw them away and still come out ahead with the carrier and racks.

I don't think nexgen's are metal insert chips, are they?
I know john hobby loves them at their price point.

these are my favorite slugged chip out there, assuming you are talking about these:

I still have large labelled set of these, from back in early 2000's.

Like others have said, definitely go for it with the case and racks included. If you decide not to keep the chips, they'd make a good set for someone else looking to upgrade from typical dice chips or super diamonds. I'm sure someone in your game could use a set for themselves and you should be able to easily pass it off to one of them for a reasonable price. Just tell them to get their own case ;)

Yep, 12g with metal insert, relatively soft plastic (almost hockey puck, but not quite). Recess capable of taking a paper or vinyl label.

Agreed. These were my first ever set and I didn't totally hate them even after I knew what good chips felt like.

Yup Nexgens will always hold a special place in my heart. I still have my labeled Lucky Bees.

Thanks everyone. Yes links_slayer that's exactly the set. I should be meeting him today to purchase.

Oh, what have I gotten myself into...again.

I have been looking for some of these, so if you want to sell the chips let me know.

I think the Nexgen pro are the ones without metal inserts.

True story. Nexgen Pros are ~9g injection molded like the Dunes injection moldeds: as in, nearly the same spot patterns and color combinations with a crappier label, a non denom chip, and it tops out at 100k instead of 25k. I have a set that I bought years ago for a bachelor party tournament where I needed some quick crazy denoms for drunken deep stack madness. I still use them from time to time when I have the need for a wacky deep stack turbo or whatever. They're slippery as hell, but they're still kind of fun to throw around now and again.

I played with some Lucky Bees recently, and I didn't hate them at all. I can definitely see how they'd take a label really well.

This is was my first set of poker chips I ever had. And they were very good for a long time. In fact i sold them to a friend of mine a few years ago and we used them last night.
Decent price for decent chips.
Go for it.

Well, thanks for the advice. After having to cancel 3 times (unusual for me), i finally made it to pick up the chips. I was shocked he hadn't sold them by then. They are nice. In fact, my game used my new Majestics for the first time last night. We all liked them, but there are a couple folks who shuffle chips, etc., and they felt the Nexgens shuffled a bit easier, due to the weight. I had oiled the Majestics, so that could have played a role. Either way, I feel like I have a nice cash set and possibly enough Nexgens for a tournament set.

I never say never, but have a heard time thinking I'd spend the cash for Paulsons. Time will tell i guess.

Thanks again for quick responses.

Ha! I could see a CPC set and in fact that's what led me first to the Majestics. They're nice. But i want to change some of the denominations and can't help think that customs might just be the better step.

I purchased a set of 1000 Nexgen Las Vegas chips and had them hot stamped with my initials and denominations for home tournament play. They were the first set I ever purchased. No one has ever complained and get a lot of compliments. I had a $100value chip vanish after hosting a Super Bowl tournament last year at my rental place I use for work while on location in the Florida Keys and learned they are hard to replace. Luckily I found the chip months later tucked away in one of the drink holders of my poker table! The chip had never made it to the Keys. I felt complete again and vowed not to take the set out of the house again. By the way I won the tournament and hit my$150 square out of 100 squares, winner take all.... $15k, was a Super Bowl I will never forget.

That didn't last long. Your Paulsons should be there by Wednesday

Nice looking crowd there.

You know, folks on here write about this crappy chip, that crappy table, etc. My first exposure to real poker was in our cabin, in upstate PA. My dad, uncles, and friends sitting around a large kitchen table, on beat up benches, drinking bad whiskey and wagering toothpicks. As I recall, not one of them was frowning.

You know what would be funny. If someone bought more Nexgens, say 4,744. I bet that set would contain about 600 orange chips. That'd be pretty funny...
