Never did the Halloween Eve thing, since I've always believed the full name of the holiday was All Hallow's Eve. When I was young it was mostly Mischief Night when we ran around like a bunch of hooligans and did stupid (but harmless) shit. This wasn't on the poll as an option, but I did also hear it referred to as Moving Night.

I get irrationally angry about stuff like this. There are only two “eves” as far as I know - new years (which really is its own holiday) and Christmas Eve, which is super duper.
Any other “eves” are just attempts by holiday whores to extend a holiday into multiple days. I think we all know at least one somebody who insists on having a birthday week. Puke.

Holloween is itself an Eve. Specifically, all halloows eve, as Nov 1 is all saints day. This is all a permutation of a catholic holiday.

As with many things, rituals persist long after the reasons why have been forgotten.

You must not go to Home Depot starting in October - January then. Think I saw Christmas trees up last time I went.

Growing up in NJ it was always Goosey Night for me. Didn't realize it went by other names till I hit college.
