Hey all. As I've previously posted, I'm in the market for a limit set (600-800 chips). Currently looking for something without denoms, and came across Super Diamonds. I've heard that these have drastically decreased in quality over the years, but I'm a broke college dude (budget around $150-$200) looking for a starting point. Any other general advice on a topic like this is appreciated. Thanks

With a tight $200 (not $150) budget I'd probably go for 400-500 from a Justin/broken arrow group buy and let $10/$20 bills play. That should work for 6 handed.

But I'm a poker chip snob ;)

Remember at the end of the day poker chips just eye candy. Back in my college days I used those plastic interlocking chips. You said looking for “upgrade” in chips super diamonds aren’t what I’d call upgrade but they get the job done. When looking at non denominational chip they fall 2 categories cheap plastic/clay your dice chips, super diamonds or nice ceramic chips (out of your budget)

Shop around and see if you find some that you like the look of

The Super Diamonds from 40-50 years ago were half-decent chips. More modern ones are really crap.

Are you a broke college student with access to a drill press and willing to use a little elbow grease to get something nice? Send me a PM if you are.
