Hi all,

i have a small collection and somewhat new to this, but what is the status of paulson chips? i know they don't make for home use anymore but i seem to struggle to find good info online too as to who actually owns and produces those chips for casinos still, or if they are gone completely?

Paulson still exists and is part of the GPI umbrella, but are now owned by Angel Holdings of Japan.

Yes, they still produce lots of chips for casinos, but in the big Strip casinos in LV they are slowly losing ground to some ceramics.

@allforcharity perfect, thats what i was finding too, the angel holdings but wasn't 100% sure. thanks....thats a bummer. i love their chips but i guess the ceramics are probably more durable long term for casinos. i hate playing in a casino with ceramics or non paulson style chips. makes it feel cheap. lol maybe thats just me.

Sadly I think the general consensus here is that big name casinos like those on the strip switched to ceramics to reduce the loss of investments from folks like us harvesting chips from them

If I happen to have a card room in Brazil, would Paulson sell to me?
What information/documents do they need to receive orders?

They sell worldwide. You would need to reach out to the salesperson for your region to see if you are allowed to order. A casino license is apparently required in the US. Regular card rooms, like the ones in Texas, that do not have a casino license cannot order their chips. Not sure what your situation is in Brazil.

Keep me in mind if you’re allowed to order. I have some ideas. Seriously. Good luck.

If GPI starts to lose enough market share at the large casino level......it may be a catalyst for re-entering the private market??? Probably not likely but optimism at its best I guess.

But even if they did enter the home market they must know what nagb they sell for. Why would they come in at low prices?

1-2 casino orders a year probably as much as an entire year of home game sales. So I don’t think it’s happening.

Could be close, how many chips would Craig’s Casino order?

Sorry that was supposed to read "re-enter the public (home) market". I'm sure it's a pipe dream of many though hahahahha!!! I agree with you doublebooyah85, they would definitely re-enter the market at current value. Over time though, I think that gets corrected. When Paulson stopped their selling to the public market........did the prices jump immediately to what we see today? Or has it been a steady increase over the years to a now somewhat plateau?

Any idea on cost per chip and minimum order requirement?

No, and the people who do know are not talking (at least to me). Plus, it sounds like there are a lot of variable prices depending on edge spots, chip size, artwork fees, possibly the size of the order, whether security features are included, whether a "special" order is made, whether climate control versus non-climate control transport is used, etc., etc. I have seen guesses/allegations/speculation ranging all over the board on prices.

You can read the NAGB threads and some folks will allude to pricing, make allegations about pricing, and rebut allegations about pricing, but no one that has gotten a direct order through has publicly disclosed current pricing.

The last catalog I have seen posted was for 2021/2022. It is in post #2770 in this thread. No pricing is in the catalog.

I'm not sure Paulson was ever really dealing directly with the public anyway. Maybe when they had their store(s) and would do custom hotstamp sets. But in the mid-2000s when the Paulson Classics, WTHC, etc. were produced, they were ordered through a 3rd party like Trademark Poker, which placed the order and came up with all the cash for production. I'm sure a group here on PCF could become a 3rd party if Paulson ever decided to work like that again. One can hope.
