Hello!

I am selling my collection of Paulson World Top Hat & Cane poker chips. They are 345 chips in total, in the following denominations:

60 x $1
70 x $5
60 x $25
90 x $100
30 x $500
20 x $1,000
15 x $5,000

I am asking $2500,00 or best offer for the lot. I suggest we split the shipping cost (which is not possible to choose when creating the ad).

I bought the Paulson chips from a Swedish online seller about 20 years ago. They were bought on different occasions. Nowadays I never use my Paulson WTCH chips and I understand that they are desirable and also worth a bit more nowadays compared to when I got them. Upon getting the chips I lubricated the new chips with mineral oil. Therefore, they are not chalky and also not mint. I’ve tabled the full set about five to ten times for tournaments with friends. Besides that I’ve played with the chips, trying to learn the art of chips shuffling (mainly some of the 100s). I would describe the condition of the chips as very lightly used to lightly used, and maybe three of the chips have minor flee bites (See pictures).

Method of payment and delivery is up for discussion. I don’t have any experience concerning freight and shipping between Sweden and the U.S. One possibility could involve me flying to the U.S. or continental Europe to complete the sale. I do have some frequent fliers miles about to expire. In that case New York would be the easiest place for me to travel to.
I am not interested in trades at the moment. Also, I am not interested in breaking up the set.

Kind regards,

Hans

I see. I based that on other ads here on PCF. What would you say is a fair price per chip?

Cheers,
Hans

Not an exact quote—just sharing some rough estimates based on what I believe are fair price ranges for each denomination. I could be off on a few, but overall, these should be pretty close. Prices vary based on condition (e.g., lower end for used, higher end for mint/NM):

$1: $10–$12
$5: $6–$8
$25: $5–$7
$100: $6–$8
$500: $6–$8
$1,000: $8–$10
$5,000:*$6–$8

I ran the numbers based on your total inventory and it lines up pretty closely with your updated asking price. Best of luck with the sale, brother—those chips are beautiful!

Thank you very much, Horseshoez!
Very nice of you to help out. Much appreciated.

All the best,
Hans

Another minor suggestion. Try to create barrels of 20 for each denomination or as close to 20 as possible, and take a few close-up shots near natural light. That’ll give people a better look at the edge condition and help them see if they match what they’ve got.

Good suggestion, thanks! I'll do that this weekend.

Cheers!

That's one sharp photo! Not sure I can match that quality, but I will do my best.
Thank you!

Some close ups.
Flee bites on the last picture (plus a small one on the 1000's (next to last picture)).

Happy weekend!
Kind regards,
Hans

Let me just say that those edge pictures are chef's kiss, Hans. VERY well done my friend. Very clear and leaves no doubts regarding condition.

Good condition, but given the price and the crazy breakdown, you'd probably be better off selling them separately.
Yup, I agree. Your most likely customers are gonna be cashset owners that want to add $1 and $5 chips (those will probably sell in an instant if offered separately) and possibly $25s, and then tourney set owners adding on for the other denoms. Probably a bit slower to sell those, especially 25s and 100s.

As a set the breakdown is pretty funky, even for our monopoly currency.

Agreed with all of the above. If it helps, here are the prices I sold mine for a couple of years ago (arguably when people were paying more for chips than now):

Thread '500 x Near Mint WTHC Set (Includes Racks of 1ks and 5ks) $2,750 shipped!!' https://www.pokerchipforum.com/thre...es-racks-of-1ks-and-5ks-2-750-shipped.107820/

1 x 180 @ $9/chip
5 x 80 @ $7/chip
25 x 40 @ $5/chip
100 x 100 @ $6/chip
500 x 100 @ $7/chip
1000 x 200 @ $7/chip
5000 x 100 @ $9/chip
