A group of friends and I have worked for the past 2 years to develop new paddles and new balls for Pickleball. We finally have the finished product in hand as of yesterday and I wanted to offer a friends and family discount to the PCF members. I know there were a few Pickleballers on here, let me know if you are interested and I should have better pictures of everything this weekend.

Website for details (still a work in progress) - https://www.okpickleball.net/

Note - The pictures on the website were samples that we used for testing, they are a tad dirty and the finished products are a tad nicer in print quality. Updated pictures coming soon.

Currently we have 2 paddles and a ton of balls:

PCF Discounts:
Green Paddle - $65
Black Paddle - $65
Balls - $7.99
Special (1 of each paddle and a pack of balls) - $125

Paddle Specs:

Paddle Surface: Graphite

Inner Core: Nomex Honeycomb

Edge Guard: TPU Rubber

Grip: Eco PU Leather

What is this played on a ping pong table?

It's tennis on a smaller court with wiffle balls. Super popular in California where space is limited and with the older tennis croud. Less running. Check out some videos on it. Super fast growing.

Interesting I'll look into it, I love tennis

Unfortunately, they're about two ounces lighter than I prefer. I would guess that was a goal of the honeycomb nomex core, rather than aluminum or carbon fiber. Is that correct?

Also, the Web page doesn't mention the grip size (diameter). Many of us primarily tennis players think that's a significant design detail.

Do you have any marketing plans through anyone down here in FL yet?

Larry drinks, and knows things--definitely a good brain to have as part of your world domination scheme.

Pickleball was invented in the mid sixties on Bainbridge Island, WA. That is the sum total of my knowledge on this topic (from a gal I know who grew up there).

That was the goal indeed, it also keeps costs down slightly. Let me see if I can get the grip size.

Currently we do not have marketing plans for FL unless the owners dad moves to a community there, he's a pickleball addict, and is retired so he travels playing everywhere. We would be open to any recommendations to tap into that market though!

Following with interest.

We've only used rented paddles and balls so far, but have enjoyed the game immensely. Here we are before the first set, in Las Vegas. It hit 117 degrees that day, and we still enjoyed it.

I think I actually prefer pickleball over tennis... and I enjoy tennis so much that I had a hardcourt installed in our backyard!

If you decide to jump in let me know and I can cut you a deal on 2 paddles and a 3 pack of balls for you guys to use!

We are discussing it now. What I think we will do is check out the local racquet store to see if we have a weight and grip size preference (though I suspect the grip size will match our tennis racquet sizes). The store loans out tennis racquets so you can try them out first, so if they carry pickleball stuff and if they loan it out, we will know what we need.

If your racquets don't meet our needs, I'll let you know though... in case you decide to start offering different sizes and weights.

@pltrgyst , or @k9dr ; you guys seem to know pickleball more than I do - does racquet weight mean as much in pickleball as it does in tennis? Exploring the interwebs, I see the lightest coming in at 5.5 oz and the heaviest at 9.5 oz. That's only 1/2 a barrel of chips difference.

Yeah, I weigh things in chip measurements.

P-ball is a pretty hot sport down here. The national championships are also played here every year in Naples. Maybe your friend's dad played there?

Our first dedicated pickleball store opened a few months ago, https://pickleballsarasota.com/. They would probably be a good place to start.

Also, your site says nothing about the balls other than they're outdoor -- seamless or not, APA approval, etc.

Good luck with the products!

We played half ball growing up. You cut a pimple ball in half and use a broomstick. :cool

Found this on YT:

Gee, that looks familiar. Did that rooftop used to be tennis courts?

Ah, to have the knees again to play hardcourt tennis! :(

I laughed pretty hard at the chip measurement! Everything really comes down to preference, since you can try things out without buying that will be beneficial for you to determine what you like. A guy who has been winning multiple tournaments with our paddle has so many different paddles its hard to count, it seems a lot of people addicted to p-ball collect or buy everything on the market to try it out.

I still play tennis exclusively, no pickleball for me yet. I may have to check it out sometime.

Sunday afternoons, two hours before sunset (currently 4pm) at the main club p-ball courts. bring a bottle of wine and something to nibble on. We usually have 20-30 players, all levels welcome. You'd be a natural...

Not really. The paddle can't be longer than 17 inches overall, and with that shorter axis, you don't sense the weight as much. I've always played pretty heavy tennis racquets, so I sought out a 9 oz+ paddle. I think it gives a bit more oomph on reflex volleys. But most people just buy medium weight 7+ ox. paddles and they're happy. (Also, paddle manufacture doesn't seem to be very precise yet -- weights are usually stated as +/- .2 ounces.)

P-ball grip sizes range from 4-1/8 to 4-1/2. I still play 4-5/8 on my tennis racquets, so I prefer 4-1/2 for p-ball. Again, most p-ball players don't seem to care.

Even in tennis, with Nadal playing 4-1/8, the trend to smaller grips is accelerating. (In the tennis days of wooden racquets, grips of 4-3/4 and 4-7/8 were commonplace, and 5 inch grips actually existed.)

Yeah, I weigh things in chip measurements.

Hard core, man!

Yep. At last I checked they converted 2 of the tennis courts into pickleball - apparently you can squeeze in 4 pickleball courts in the space of 1 tennis court. Being Vegas and all, it makes sence that they would go for the greater possibility of money.

Our hardcourt has a soft surface to reduce knee impact. It was the same company and process used for Melbourne Park (home of the Australian Open). Needless to say, they're near impossible to contact to get cracks repaired :(.

Pickleball makes a weird sound. It seems to be catching on because we've had multiple calls at work in the past year with people that live near courts complaining about the noise and asking if we can help.
