Tried bridge/jumbo at one game, and the opinions voiced were to switch back to poker sized. Most players have never played in a casino and have always used wide size Bicycles, so it's what feels normal to them.

May try again once games start up.

Poker / jumbo is what we prefer for nlhe, and poker/standard for plo, etc.

I have many decks of both. I really don't know why. I'm rarely using the poker size.

Bridge shuffles better because there is less card to bend and less friction when sliding the stub halves together. Washing the deck (placing all cards face down spreading them out so every face touches the felt and mixing them up) takes considerably less room, and therefore mixes the cards better if the cards are bridge size.

There is no advantage to Poker size. None. Only cantankerous old men still use Poker size, because "that's what the box says". They probably have table felt that says "Texas Hold Em", and buy chips that say "official casino weight".

"Them fancy chips y'all got are too light, 13.5g are what they use in real casinos"

True.

False. Standard index is superior from a hand protection standpoint. I can get if tables are too large, board reading can get difficult from the ends (it is a reason I noticed I had vision needs 10 years ago), but I'd rather just slow down and read the board right rather than have to lift more than a corner of a hole card off the table to read it.
Yeah and those cards with the dark red ink are superior from a hand protection standpoint, but who wants to play with them?

I have always used poker size at my games but I don't mind when I play somewhere else and they use bridge size. I have been trading a lot of cut cards lately and it has opened my eyes to how many people on here prefer bridge size. I would guess it is a little over 2 to 1.

At the moment, I like poker size, jumbo index. Im a blind son of a bitch these days, so I really need the larger index size. When I go to a card room, and they have standard index bridge-sized cards, I sit across from the dealer, or suffer from barely being able to read the board. I dont like the look of standard index, especially bridge cards.

I just bought bridge sized with jumbo index, so im excited to try those out and see for myself if I like them. I could hate bridge size simply because I am used to standard index and the bad juju I have with them.

Also, every time I go to a place that uses standard index, bridge sized cards, I end up running very badly going against hands like I listed below, so I also have an unreasonable hatred for them aside from the practical side of the index size

(Example :ad::as: vs :kh::5s: and the board comes :kd::kc::6h:)

or

( :kc::ks: vs :9d::4s:, board ran something like :jc::9c::2h::4d::7s:)

I'd be happy to find someone playing 94o in a pre-flop raised pot! LOL.

Yep -- that's me. I use poker-sized cards for poker, and bridge-sized cards for bridge.

Though I suspect it's more a case of declining eyesight than an overdose of cantank.

Distance might have something to do with it. You might consider the length of a ten-player poker table versus a 36" square bridge table...

I have to say, the delicate little souls who find it so difficult to shuffle poker-sized cards do make me laugh... :cool

Poker is preferred by most of my friends. I do have one friend who is 6' 10", and has fingers the size of bananas, he refuses to play with what he calls "baby cards" (bridge size).

No one likes Jumbo Index (although a few are probably old enough to need them).

Never got my hands on a poker size, all plastic, standard index, 4-color deck but I would like to try one out.

Apparently I need to buy some bridge size cards. I've just always bought poker/jumbo, looks like its time for something new.

I still would like to see a 4 color deck that used Black/Red for the suits, but then added a Green outline for the clubs and a blue outline for the diamonds.

Old eyes, new solutions.

Hand dealt, strong preference for bridge jumbo index. But, given that I just picked up a Shuffletech for our game, I'll have to get used to using poker sized going forward. Have only tried copags with the shuffler so far, but hopeful I'll be able to use Desjgn and KEM poker sized cards with it too without too much trouble.

I am elderly and a wear a uniform. I guess that is why I own decks of both.

...but prefer bridge size.

Ughhh! "Uninformed", is what I meant to type.

Wish the :smackingmheadagainstwall: emoji was still available!

From a fellow, though now retired, uniform wearer: thanks for your service & stay safe
