How is the "i" in chipes or chibes pronounced - is it "eye", "ee" or "ih"?

"eye" ~ time
""ee" ~ police
"ih" ~ him

Gotta love the word indecisive where it can't seem to make up it's own mind how to pronounce the i.

Once upon a time, in the past age of the blue wall, there was a lovable (and usually loaded) poster by the name of Ray Miller. Always an entertaining read, but often difficult to decipher, as his inebriated spelling often came out, well, rather unique.

One day he was looking for an experienced chipper to provide him with some advice, and asked if there were any "chipes xberts" on the forum.

And thus the legendary term was born.

And I can't change my vote. Thanks PCF!

So what you’re saying is that @Hammer2171 is the Ray Miller of our times?

Nothing negative to say on Ray, but he had the obsession on chips, as a lot of us had, and some still do. Agreed, hewas at times entertaining, cause I too was not clear on his communications. Was he intentionally trying to be funny, or did he misspell unintentionally..?

I did trade with him to get my only Vineyard $500, but with the communication was not clear if the deal would get done. Thankfully it did.
