The guy who listed these chips in the Chip Guide database was selling a 25c chips on eBay last week. He listed it as Christy & Jones H&C chip in his description.
Whoa, seriously sweet set!!!! Those 1's are very similar to some yellow hotstamped double horsehead 25's I have. They're non-denominational, so could be used for $25 or $.25 chips.
I gave up on finding any matching chips, so I relegated myself to relabeling those Binions $1's for my Benny's quarters.
I picked up one Crystal Palace chip from Spinettis to see if they match. I forgot to take a before pic but this thing was super dirty. Probably 10x as bad as the one pictured above. I scrubbed it with a magic eraser and it cleaned up nice. The colors match but I just realized the mold is the SCV. They must have mixed LCV and SVC for the $5s. I was going to pick up 40 to make a full mixed rack with the $25s but I'm not sure if I should wait for more of the Poker Palace chips to come along.
Interesting. Color wise, they more or less match perfectly.
My OCD would prevent me from mixing LCV and SCV if i know i can help it.
But sometime you got to get, while the getting is good.

I don't think these are C&J chips. Time frame is totally wrong, unless the place was open for 20+ years (unlikely scenario for most Cali card rooms). Given the condition of the chips, I'd wager they were open for a very short time. Weight is another way to tell..... most Paulson LCV chips are well in excess of 10g. The C&J chips were produced by Burt Co with no lead, and are usually well under 10g.
Here's another candidate -- not the exact spots, but same colors and similar look, Also on the LCV mold and usually in excellent-to-mint condition. Mikko probably has some of these, too.
I'm curious about what you guys are doing with these chips. Are most of the people in here collecting these to mill them and relabel them, or are you guys usually just playing them as is?

Tommy is probably just collecting these to have them and later sell them, then re-buy them, if his past history is any indicator.
Personally, I'd use this set as-is vs doing any kind of permanent damage/change to a vintage set. Or more likely, buy them just to have them (since cash games around here with my crew are rare).
