I voted "your answer here".

As long as there is communication between you and buyer then a time table can be set. If you get the sense they are stalling then you set a time and be done with it.

if buyer is in an open discussion and its straight forward with their intentions, then I would let 24-72 hours go where i wait for buyer to pay.

if they go cold on PMs or discussion, i would say 48 hours to reply to a PM

Gotta say it depends. When I was new here I didn't even have a Payal account. Tommy put his Terribles up for sale and I had to have some of them. It took me a few days to get an account set up and get a bank transfer through, and he was super patient with me. Made a really good impression and made me feel welcome in the community.

this really.

If its a brand new guy that isn't communicating things really well then I would probably give him 24 hrs. If his communication with the situation is acceptable to me then I would probably be good with it.

If its a long time member that needs a few days. So be it. I love this community. Every PCF'er that I have met in the three meet ups that I have attended were awesome people.

Communication is the main key. Here it is all about trust and PM's.
On eBay, not so much, but I don't sell on eBay. When I buy on eBay, I pay right away.

I'll echo what some members have already said. If there is communication to say there will be a slight delay in payment with a reasonable explanation, I will honour that, its only fair. But if there is no communication then 48 hours maybe? this is for PCF

On eBay - I wouldn't be so lenient - but then, that's just the nature of eBay.

The first three options are for chippers with douchbaggery in their game. If you agree to a deal and someone offers you more after, then both seller and hijacker are douchebags if you pull out of the original deal.

I meant to come post this but got busy and Mike beat me to it. Lol 5 minutes. Lol 6 hours. Lol the next day.

Oh, that reminds me. About those three racks of chips I put aside for you 6 months ago...

:p

I've actually waited almost 2 months for someone before. I wasn't very happy with them because communication was terrible, and when communication did happen, it wasn't full of truth.

But in general, yes, communication is key. I'm on an installment plan now, and appreciate the extra time for buying awesome sets :)

That's what I'm talking about man! Bentax agrees to sell some chips 6 months ago knowing I come home in July. My kind of guy and that's how he rolls!

But that's a credit to both sides Mike. He knows those chips are sold -- no flip-flop from you.

Actually, I looked back, it will actually be 10 months by the time July rolls around. I could have had a third kid waiting for you to buy these chips  :ROFLMAO:

Just so I'm clear, is this thread is about buyers calling 'dibs' on chips but not paying for them right away?

If I'm selling something on craigslist, the first person to show up with money gets the item. There's a boatload of ways I'm a douchebag, but I don't consider that one of them.

When it comes to craigslist, I don't think anyone would blame you for having a "first person with the money gets them policy". The average buyer on craigslist is a bit less reliable than your average buyer on PCF. And by a bit, I mean a lot. :)

I try to avoid craigslist at all costs. I hate it. I really really hate it (as a seller).

That's how I interpret the thread, PCF only. You are not a chipping douche.

So what do you do if a buyer calls, wants to buy, and lives an hour away -- tell him it's his gamble whether to drive over or not?

But neither of them knows that I already sold the chips and collected teh monies! Thanks for all the precious chips, @slisk250

(I'm totally just kidding, Mike...the spare/chip room is still full of compressed clay goodness.)

Maybe we should refer to it as Mike's closet :p ...and to slightly jack the thread, Scott is another one of those great guys. I met him in person once and then sent him a few valuable chips to store for almost a year. He could have been in Los Cabos with them by now....

That's what happened to me one time on eBay...I PM a seller and we arrived at a price on some common chips. I think it was an "old geezer" as @kmccormick100 would put it just by the kind of things he was selling. Anyways I as him to send me the invoice and a BuyItNow. I waited for around 20-30 minutes but I had to pickup my kid from a Track Meet. I PMed him that I needed to step out for 15-20 min to pickup kids just a few blocks away. No answer so I leave. I rush back in less than 15 minutes and I'm ready to Paypal him anytime now. But then I see a threatening message that goes on and on about how I'm not serious and I shouldn't waste his time and he refuses to sell to me anymore. I'm like really...15 minutes!!!

Yeah I had something a bit similar with a combined member/eBay. Bought some chip they listed on eBay, asked about more for roughly the same price. They wanted about 25% more and they were not worth it. We had agreed to some sort of sale but he pulled out. It's all good but I probably won't deal with the person outside of eBay.
