POLL: Setup Preference (Narrow vs. Wide, Jumbo vs. Regular) (1 Viewer)

Unless I've missed it, I don't believe there has been an actual poll on this topic and I'm curious to see if there is a specific setup that is more popular than the others among this forum.

The question is simple. Regardless of manufacturer and material, which setup do you prefer?

Hate poker size, hate jumbo index since most of the time I'm playing 4+ hole card games and the jumbo index makes it a PITA to keep my hand concealed when I fan my cards.

I honestly don't care if their Bridge or Poker size. They almost have to be jumbo index at this stage.

The older I get, the more I appreciate Jumbo, so I'm a convert from Bridge/Regular to Bridge/Jumbo, never liked Poker size, those are for kid games and paper cards

I've been meaning to sell all of my standard index cards. Maybe I'll work on that this weekend. As is, I wear reading glasses with the jumbo index cards so that makes the SI cards almost useless to me lol.

Im all about Bridge Jumbo. Easier to handle and my "older" players can see them better, well heck, I can see them better.

My wife bought me some cards for Christmas and (guild) and they are poker / regular, I smiled and said thank you and started to think of what I can do with them.
The return shipping is half the price of the set up...

I also have like 8 setups of bridge/jumbo....

I don't personally have a preference for jumbo vs regular index. Usually I use jumbo to accommodate any players who have vision issues.

The question is too simple. It depends on the game!

The game I play most often is Texas Holdem, so my answer is jumbo.

For games with more than four hole cards (including non-poker games), I prefer standard.

For games with exactly four hole cards, it depends which game. If there's a board (like Omaha), I prefer Jumbo. If there's no board (like Badugi), I prefer standard.

And I always prefer poker sized over bridge sized.

Bridge-sized makes an end-riffle easier, which is what a lot of players do, but I was trained as a dealer, and do an edge-riffle, which is easier with poker-sized.

Poker-sized always feels better in my hand, too. I suspect that people handling bridge-sized cards roll the deck more often, but cover cards take care of that.

Just to have it in the thread:

"Poker" sized cards are 3.5" by 2.5" - "Wide."
"Bridge" sized cards are 3.5 "by 2.25" - "Narrow."

The difference is .25, or one-quarter inch - 6.35 mm.

Bridge-sized are cheaper, that's a big reason for their dominance.

I'd like to think casinos tended towards wider-sized at blackjack tables because they're easier for dealers to shuffle - but they don't really care about the dealers that much. I think the truth is that the wides are slightly less likely to mis-deal as doubles out of a shoe. Where automated shufflers take over at blackjack tables, I'd expect narrow cards to take over.

In a self dealt game on a oval table, regular index is very difficult to see from one end of the table to the other.

That is the main reason I only buy jumbo index. Bridge size is a must as well, hate poker sized cards.

My actual preference is no index, because I like watching people count pips to see if the board hit their hand.

I actually bought one of these decks a couple of years ago thinking "how cool would it be to play with these with an old school chip design" until I got them and opened them up and immediately thought "what a f#@$^ng PITA these would be to play with" They may get used as some type of man cave art now

I like Poker Jumbo. The poker size just look "right" to me. Probably since that's what I grew up with.

It seems the dominant preference here is bridge/jumbo. I've noticed that the WSOP uses bridge/regular. And I'm guessing some or many of you have played in the tournament at least once.

Why does the WSOP (and other major tourneys) go against what the majority of players prefer?

Also, do blackjack tables at casinos use the same cards (copag/Fournier/etc.), just in poker size? And which index is more common for blackjack?

I fluctuate between bridge jumbo and poker jumbo. Bridge is the way to go for lots of reasons, but when I get the highest quality plastic cards in my hands, I really like it when they're poker size. If I could get people to play 4 and 5 card games, I'd be all about bridge all the time, and might even consider standard index.
Poker size standard index seems to be the right tool for zero jobs.

I'm bridge, standard index preference. Jumbo makes me think kiddie games, plus when I squeeze, I prefer not lifting too high. To each their own, of course.

Always wide size, but index would depend on the particular game. Bridge size makes me think Rommé.

Game with community/open cards? Jumbo for better visibility across the table. I have very good eyes, but it's still much easier to read the board.
Draw game? Regular index so you don't have to fan your cards that much. Also has better aesthetic imo. Reading distance is no problem here as you only see your own hand.

Since I'm not a fan of draw games because of its high luck factor and little possibility to analyze your opponents logically, I voted for the wide/jumbo combo.
