Other than text books I’ve actually never read a war book in my life, this was a solidarity purchase lol.If you enjoy WWI books you should check out “to fight among friends”. It is the heart wrenching diary of Charles May, a British officer born in New Zealand who served and died at the Somme. I wrote a linked in article about it here:Link to article
The Dan Carlin podcast “blueprint to Armageddon” is also very powerful.
I’m a huge fan of books though, but i stick almost exclusively to fantasy. I’ve always had a love of history, and I actually studied history and archaeology for a year at uni, before changing direction, so it’s about time I try some history books like this.
I’ll definitely check that Charles may diary out once I’m done with phantoms book, I’ve been to Somme before. It was a very confronting place, so I can only imagine how it would feel to read a something like that.
