They can work quite well, though you shouldn't always use a darker shade for all spots. Try alternating lighter and darker between successive denoms.

I’ll try it out. How do you feel about the insert progression?
It's fine, though I'd rather have a little more variation in spot width.
One thing about monochrome and solid sets, you almost never run into dirty stack issues.

Ordered this set on CSQ, but went through so may iterations between 614 and 1/4 Pie. I wasn't terribly inspired by a particular direction and there were lots of other good options so I figured I would post them here in case anyone else wanted to use them or be inspired.

Love this quarter pie, so I tried to design a set that works with it. I think I can do better on the hundo.
I like this better. Added a nickel. No law saying my hundo needs to be black, right?
