Forgive my ignorance, but are “show ‘em” chips for when you’re calling someone’s bet at then end of the hand?

It’s for when your opponent folds to your bet, you can force them to show the cards if you have a show’em chip.

I’ll think one to each player, and can only be used once…is the MOST you would issue these. Having too many or being able to use them over and over is too much, imo.
Maybe have 3 to use per night, and one gets dropped into a pot at a specified time or blind increase, etc.

Oh, and only the person involved in the hand is able to redeem the show-em chip. Sometimes others outside the hand want to see and use their chip, but that isn’t permitted.

They're for when you fold, but want to know what they held.

Often they require an extra fee $X for each chip, or limited to one per player. Useful for educational purposes when you have a a new fish in your veteran shark tank, as veterans already know each other's ranges.

I'm not a fan of them though, as noobs get hung up on "I could have won". All unshown cards are in the same box as Schrodinger's cat.

This gets me thinking (uh oh); I should make some ‘Hey n00b, it’s your turn!’ chips.

It would work like this: Everyone gets a barrel at the start of the game. When a player is distracted / not paying attention, everyone flings a HNIYT! chip at them.

When everyone has spent their HNIYT! chips (or at the end of the night), anyone who has them in their stack pays $1 a piece into the next pot (or the high hand bonus, or the drinks bill…).

Yes, I’m thinking about a specific player in my game…

Used these 2.5" figures as Bounties using Super Poker World chips

Collecting them is more fun than getting a chip

I like this a lot. But I think what I may do instead of everyone getting them is drop random ones in starting stacks like a lottery. I definitely agree that a player can only use it once, and only players within the hand can use it.
