Small bump for this thread. One of my mixed TRK racks. This one, mainly Nevada, has been getting some new additions the past few weeks. Exciting stuff!
I'm sure many could name every chip going left to right starting from the bottom of the 2nd barrel.

@HaRDHouSeiNC, eye spy….

Always wanted a T-shirt that paid tribute to
the T. R. King legacy ….. so I had this one
made for me …

Sands Vegas TRK chips. I was speaking with @leo822 about these, and he has a theory that these may be private reissues of the 1960s release chips, possibly made for friends of the company, which might explain their mintiness.

On the other hand, I’ve tracked the provenance of these to 1981, which is when the previous owner acquired them, when these chips were possibly live, so it seems unlikely that TRK would issue replicas of live chips.

The $5s are 10.9, the $25s are 11.2g, and the $100s are 11.1g.

Coolest chips I've ever seen, right there. Not close. Congrats!

I'm blown away. I love everything about these

Absolutely beautiful chips and love the shaped inlays... but the Green denom with the red all mixed from the sun makes the Denom difficult to see. Maybe it's just partially color blind and looking at a picture, but there's a lot going on with that inlay.

Awesome Score @Windwalker

Because of their weight I'm actually in the camp now of them being produced in the correct era but being tucked away by either an employee on the downlow or as backstock. But that's A LOT of backstock
Did you get them in quantity @Windwalker?

@RainmanTrail Is there a way to test these similar to carbon dating?

Radiometric dating wouldn't work on something like this. Also, even if it did, the confidence intervals would render it not very useful. I don't know what other options exist though.

If it helps, I picked one up a few years ago from another singles collector. Very interesting about the weight but beautiful and iconic chips regardless. I would covet a playable set if they weighed between 8 and 18.

That’s a marked difference in weight. Different production batches / runs? That’s almost 1.3g. I might try to recalibrate my scale, as well, it’s new.

Just perusing the chipguide and it looks like there were different chips in circulation by the 1970s/1980s. I don't wont to besmirch the sterling reputation of the mafia connected figures who previously owned and operated the Sands, but maybe someone just decided to take some souvenirs home with them when the casino was sold to Howard Hughes in the late 1960s? It's not like chip security and the gaming commission carried as much weight back then...

Some barrel pr0n of TRK chips you don’t see very often. It’s fascinating to me how vivid and different the colors they could manufacture were. I don’t usually like chocolate chips, but that $25 is pretty.

Congrats again, you had quite the week!!
Two questions, how long have you had the ability to time travel and can I hitch a ride next time?

Seriously, I’m so impressed with what you’ve been able to put together. As a singles collector who never thought he would see pictures of these scrowns in stacks I’m left speechless.

Keep them coming!!
