Pre-1960's inspired black inlay set mockup (Rising Sun artwork added... feedback requested) (3 Viewers)

I think retro blue looks better than purple here

Interesting:

Looking good man.

I would be a little concerned with the $1 and the $25 mixing. Maybe the light green base for the $25 instead?

Thanks @72o, I really want to stay with the darker $25. It is pretty much a match to the old Flamingo chip that helped to inspire the set.

I think I have nailed down the set. I will be posting a sample set ordering thread in a few days.

In -- Samples!

I slightly prefer F2 100, but G2 is more pop.

A minor suggestion would be making the white circle border slightly less thick (maybe half as thick). You never know, when the real inlay gets made the white circle could come out even thicker than in your design.

That is something that I toyed with and got input from @David Spragg on. The transition of the black to the white line is right on the edge of the "artwork" line in the CPC template. Essentially, this line is intended to be the edge of the graphic... because anything beyond it has the potential to be cut off during the trimming process. Granted the size of the cutting die is a fixed 7/8", but the centering could be off. The design as currently as shown has a 0.06 inch wide white ring. By comparison, The Signal sample chips I have, have a 0.03" ring. Mapes have a 0.06" to 0.10" ring. Capital Room have a 0.04" ring. As I finalize the artwork, I may make the ring a hair smaller... maybe 0.04".

So after a few discussions with @cgraham86, it sounds like I will be able to get hotstamps on the DISQ mold after all. I have worked with @chipjoker on the design. I was going for something ultra simple/old school. I copied the TRK denomination and just wanted the initials RS on the opposite side.

Now this is right up my alley. Looking good!
1. The graphical misalignment of the salmon to the white is intended and will vary on different denominations.
2. The graphical misalignment of the white outer ring is intended and will vary on different denominations.

Good choice on reducing the thickness of the white circle. You'll naturally get off-center punches and the thin line enhances the effect. David recommended that I thicken my outer white circle to avoid the off-center effect. I wanted it, just like you! This set looks great! I'm glad you are keeping it on the MD-50. My chips are at @cgraham86's house right now to get stamped.

Great job!

Thanks @dew4au, your set was definitely an inspiration for mine. Glad you came back when you did. Your message about the hotstamp sample got me going again about hotstamping my frac. I thought it was not an option.

Yep, I have them. They showed up today.

I was just telling Shaggy here that we should take our time with these blanks. I'm going to set up the die that will probably be the most challenging (the actual tower "thingy") and get the heat/temp right. That actually may influence his artwork depending on how yours turn out.

Ah...first time I'm seeing your artwork. Dimes? Interesting! I'm thinking this may be just fine. Not a lot around the edge of the inlay to compete with getting the center to stamp.

Absolutely, take your time! I'm in no rush.

Looking for feedback on the hotstamp graphic... just the denomination side. Trying to figure out if I go with two cent symbols or one. It appears TRK commonly used two dollar signs, however only used one cent sign. Thoughts?
A: One cent sign
B: Two cent signs.

Don't use 2 of the cent signs. That looks really weird IMO.

I'm tinkering with the chip query tool in the chipguide... lots of interesting hotstamps from TRK for inspiration.

I agree, the double symbol looks weird... but I kinda like it. The cents written over the 10 looks pretty cool.
