Pre PCF, Post PCF and the journey so far..... (2 Viewers)

Hi all,

Its almost been a month since I joined and around 2 months since I started lurking, I thought I'd share my experiences so far.

Pre PCF

I was considering 1 set - a ceramic (Tiki or the EPT) or a china clay (Milano or Majestic) (basically because I didn't know CPC existed). I needed help on what to choose and with the help and guidance of PCF members, decisions were made....

Post PCF

Since joining PCF, a whole new world of chip frivolity opened up and now I am in a serious dilemma.... I am finding myself thinking 'it wouldn't hurt to get extra sets, its an investment!!'

So I'll just skip to it - my latest shortlist of chips to buy/bought:

1) Majestic - 700 chips - ordered and shipped - awaiting delivery and avidly refreshing the tracking page every 30 mins in the hope something has moved! (Damn you international post!!)
2) Tiki ceramic set - was on the back burner - though my wife who doesn't play poker, loves this set (as do I), so I thought I'll order these as I wont get into trouble! - order pending
3) Borgata hybrid set - this was not on my list, but I love the design and thought - I NEED these.
4) Iron bank ceramics - I am hoping this goes through and I can order (noobie rules apply) - I love GoT and it is one of my fav shows of all time. - designs look amazing on the CPC version and reckon will look great in ceramics too.

So, from wanting to purchase 1 set (700 chips), my list has grown to potentially 4 (min 2500 chips) (I am just glad my wallet can take the hit without my wife going nuts).

Moral of the story - PCF is an amazing place to get genuine advice from people who love chips.........but it will batter your wallet....sooner or later!

ps. I know for a fact that CPC chips will be on my list at some stage - I have already given up hope on fighting myself on this one!!! lol

Never fight the CPC urge, it would happen at some point anyway....

I bought man sets before I decided on a CPC set, and I paid more for those sets then I would have on the CPC's....But it still a fun journey and I would not change it...

I believe every set you've listed will also have decent resale value, so don't feel bad. If you need to liquidate when it's time for your own customs, you'll almost certainly be able to.

Very true, but I doubt I would ever be able to part with the chips! designs are just too nice!

I wish I signed up to PCF earlier. I was on CT years ago but my game died down so I kinda forgot about chips for a few years. I've since invested so much money into a partial Paulson set I could have just ordered CPCs with the money but I didn't realise it at the time. If I'd been on here reading for a few months, I would have seen the light and gone CPC from the get-go. That said, I was in a different boat to you in that I'd invested in a nice China Pharaoh's set back in 2010 so I was already setup with a nice budget cash and tourney set for use

exactly the same design, they have a very smooth linen feeling (but not slippery at all).

Same boat, sort of. I've procrastinated quite a bit in my decision making. I've a bunch of CC samples being sent to me which I hope will be here this week. I'll also be getting in on the GB here and when I get get a home game properly established then I'll go CPC more than likely.

However, it's the home game I'm having troubles with and I find myself playing at the casino more. The home game I do go to isn't serious enough for my liking. But I love me some chips. So I may just end up with a bunch of chips and no one to play with haha.

I have lots of chips at my stage in the journey. However, I still feel the *need for a large set of those Tikis. We have to find a way to re-create that awesome dealer button as well!
