angel cards are defo on the list though! I'll keep you in mind

Aged shochu and umeshu are definitely on my list again for my next visit. Shit is divine. Japan-exclusive bourbons as well was an interesting find when I was there last, but didn't have enough space in my luggage.

If you want to try different brands from some of the smaller distilleries, I quite liked a few single malts from Shizuoka, Akkeshi, and White Oak. Whiskey tasting on your list @quintooo?
Don't think I've tried any of the local japan distilleries. Not sure if I have time to do whiskey tasting in Osaka, but will have plenty of time in Tokyo. Let me know if you have any recommendations!

also never had aged shochu, but umeshu is like crack

Yep aged shochu is a rare thing, heard it was an okinawan speciality.

My favourite whiskey bar was Zeotrope when I was in Tokyo a few years ago, it was great. Lots of local whiskeys and the owner spoke English.

Heard good things about Bar Livet, Shinjuku Whiskey, Apollo bar.. A lot of places in Shinjuku and Ginza. You won't be disappointed.

Tokyo Whiskey Library is up there for a more restaurant-type feel as well.

But aged umeshu is really something I can't get enough of right now. Finishing bottles like crack lol

any shochu or umeshu bottles you recommend that can't be had back home but also isn't impossibly rare/expensive in Japan?

also, def gonna check out some of those bars, thanks for the list

Are Angel cards that good? Do they have bridge sized jumbo or blackjack index?

What's a good bottle for sharing at a meet up?

they are one of my favorite cards. Has similar flex to kem, but more plastic-y, laminate feel vs kem linen/textured feel

these are the ones that are readily available which you can buy on amazon.jp. they are also the ones I find in japan

I'm honestly not sure how they compare to the clubs/aristos found in the green box, but the ones above cost like $6 per setup which is dirt cheap

as for a good meetup bottle... I suppose that depends on your $$$$ tolerance, but I'm a big fan of WT12 around $60-70 a bottle

I like stuff from Daishichi, Nishibori and Heiwa Shuzo. Honestly, the good thing about umeshu is that they are imported quite readily so the standard stuff is easy to grab for me in Australia, not sure about the US. But obviously markup is like 150% - 300% depending on bottle

Try look out for some special releases instead of their standard stuff. In fact, I reckon it's worthwhile going to bars that serve different types of umeshu so you know which ones you like. Most umeshus you grab from bars should be purchasable in Japan, unlike whiskey.

I found out recently myself that breweries release yearly batches of umeshu which may not even be cut with the same mother liquor, most use shochu, others use vodka, nihonshu etc.

You can find out which types of umeshu you like most at a lower price point. For instance my mate really likes umeshu cut with nihonshu (sake) vs shochu. Also recommend trying out some different fruit liquors, some do seasonal stuff like peach blended umeshu for example. Lots of variety in this category for sure!

Angels Setup(s) 1-5 depending how much space you got.

Blanton Gold if you can find near MSRP.

Cool card capper or two. Surprise me. Maybe a mini bottle like @joeyshin was looking for.
I've been to Japan like 4 times now and have never found a blantons! I thought they'd be plentiful but nope. Will ofc keep an eye out for you tho

Hey there, I'd like 1 Angel poker jumbo sized setup if you have room! No whiskey for me! : )

Are you going to a card room? Would like a $5 chip equivalent from a Japanese casino. ; )

Edit - (nevermind about the $5 chip)

I don't think there are any jumbo angels, at least from the times I've gone and looked.

And no plans to visit a card room (yet). I'm not sure if they play cash, looks like mostly tournament or if it is "cash" it's played as points in a leaderboard.
