Redbelly's New Man Cave (Bourbon Shelf)! Artistic input needed... (1 Viewer)

I love this idea! A little Redbelly Air logo...build an acrylic shelf with very small levelers to sit on top and give more storage area and fill it with Makers 46...ahhhh

Don't get much better than that.

This is a wing tip from a "straight" wing and not the one you referenced in the picture... They are HUGE![emoji41]

I'm pretty set on mounting it horizontally and not worried about the weight... If necessary I can reinforce the area...

The idea to place anything on it was just an idea but it can certainly stand alone.

I think I'm going to buy some blue/yellow masking tape and play with some lines running from the red nav light to aft white lights.

The idea of it as a partition was interesting but I couldn't bring myself to put it in a bathroom... [emoji15][emoji41]
+1 for some sort of authentic Southwest coloration. Also maybe add the heart somewhere?

Oh, and the underpart of it has to be red no?

I have granite countertops and shelves in my bar, which makes for slick surfaces when my poker peeps are a few drinks in. It wasn't uncommon for somebody to knock a glass or bottle to the floor because they slipped off the counter tops easily if they weren't paying attention. My wife bought me some shelf liner that feels like thin rubber as opposed to the typical vinyl shelving paper. You could cut a piece of that to properly match the contour of the wingtip (color matched nicely I'm sure), and that might take care of problems with bottles or glasses slipping off. It would also keep the bottles or glasses from scratching the paint.

Double glass shelves to match the airfoil profile with brass or aluminum standoffs?

Here's a rough view, if people want to mess around in MS Paint for color concepts.

I think we're all thinking something like this as a start, the upper surface is really the what's in question.

I have to agree that what your suggesting would look fantastic! Thank you for posting the rough "views"! Now on to researching layered shelving with led lighting![emoji41]

Come on, I know other people have MS Paint. If anybody wants the svg, I can send you that too.

Not "original", but for a man who likes to bring his work home with him...

Obv. it would need cleaning up. Also, I'm wondering if a "wrap" would be more feasible.

While I'm themeing, a button at (above) each seat to "ding" the bartender.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I think the above is the gist of what I had in mid with the "Redbelly" colors...

I still am not completely opposed to current livery colors like PZ posted but without the artwork... I think whatever colors are chosen I'll let the piece speak for its self... only exception might be a simple "Redbelly's" in the rectangular area near the most aft section of the wing.

Btw... The dimensions are 6 1/2' by almost 2' (22") probably 60-75 lbs!

Let me know if you need any engineering help handling the weight. The glass and bottles will outweigh the wing tip itself.

Don't have any ideas what you could do with it but it's pretty darn cool! I like the idea of a horizontal trophy :)

I have had a FANTASTIC experience doing this project!

I "THINK" I'm going to paint the entire wing tip the "Classic" SWA paint color. We have a couple of tribute planes that have this "old school" color that are slightly altered to include a pearl color and richness that really pops. It does two things... it allows the highlighting of the "Redbelly's" logo and allows the red and white nav lights to really stand out.

Having torn out all the old wiring and lighting sockets I installed a Power Supply (12VDC 50 Watt), 4 (2 for the red 2 for the white) Ceramic G4 Socket LED lamp holder, Dimmable LED remote controller, and 4 1 watt Dimmable Low Profile LED lights.

It turned out EXACTLY how I imagined! (Better actually!)

I wanted to wire this wingtip so that when the night was over and the main lights were turned off... this piece will always be on with a soft glow in the room.

Some pictures...
