Relabels don't belong in mixed sets (1 Viewer)

I have no issue with those types of sets having relabeled chips in them, so long as there’s a couple/few different casinos represented.
I think this is especially important considering the rarity and expense of fracs. But, I'm curious... Is there a limit? Do at least half of the denoms need to be real?

Also, what about repeat casinos, like your $5 and $20 are from the same casino; is that still considered mixed?

Seems like we need some more granular definitions.

As soon as there is more than one casino (real or not) represented on the lables, it is a mixed set.
If you relable something to match the other chips so you have them all of 1 casino - it is not a mixed set. It is a relabled set.

What would you call a set that had four denoms with original inlays and two with relabels?

If it’s all the same labels it’s “semi custom” “Horseshoe” set or whatever casino it is.

If it’s a bunch of different casinos represented its a mixed set.

No, I don’t think so, you can theoretically build an entire fake mixed set, what makes them a mixed set is the different casino labels, real or not.

That would be a semi-custom relabeled faux-mixed set, but not a true mixed set. Could be considered a faux-mixed set for short, I suppose.

Who's in charge of the glossary around here?

A couple pages ago, I proposed “remixed set” to denote sets which intermingle more than one casino denoms along with some relabels to complement the terms mixed set, dirty mixed, filthy mixed, and slutty mixed.

It was one of my better posts (I know, I know, grading myself on a curve here) and dammit I’m not letting it die quietly...

Current relable project in the works (fracs and $20 not final by any means):

Wow...at PCF we could even talk for pages about sheering sheeps on the Altiplano

Casino set: combo of chips all from 1 casino & all original (mixing primary & secondary is accepted)
Mixed set: combo of chips from different casinos (non altered)
Relabeled set: combo of chips (casino and others) with at least once denom that is relabeled
Custom set: chips created (incl artwork) based on requirements (base & spot colors, spot progression, mold/ring, rolling edges, ...) of the order (CPC, Matsui, Abiatti, Sun-fly, Paulson [NAGB chips, suits mold,...], ...)
Semi custom set: chips are ordered in bulk & standard, denoms can change (Avalons, Grand Cardroom, ...)

To me, “relabeled set” means that the whole thing is relabeled, using chips from multiple sources... Say, the Havanas. As distinct from a custom set.

Just bumping with some mixed house mold w/two relabel denominations pr0n. Been using set for family poker.

Tell me I'm wrong.
This thought first came up last week when a new guy was looking for opinions on his mixed set, and he said that he might relabel this chips and that chip. And then it just came back to me looking at the mixed set pron thread.
Mixed sets exist because people can't find or afford all the denominations from one casino. Some people just like to mix and match to create a good looking set, I guess, and that's fine too. And of course, there are no rules, so yeah, everything is fine when they're your chips. But it just seems to me that relabeling chips to make your mixed set perfect, goes against the entire spirit of the mixed set.
Okay.

You're wrong.

Jesus, can't we have like a statute of limitations on stupid posts? I post some dumbshit two years ago and it has to live on forever? That's the internet for you.
What the hell was I thinking anyway - relabels don't belong in mixed sets? How stupid can I be? Obviously that should have said "Relabels don't belong in ANY sets!"
