Removable rail? (2 Viewers)

There are pics on here somewhere, but I can't find them. :(

Basically, you just drill a hole in the end of one piece and screw in the cam rod, and drill a corresponding hole in the adjoining piece to receive the rod -- plus that piece gets a larger hole drilled from underneath to house the cam, which tightens onto the 'inserted' part of the rod (keeping the two pieces connected).
Gotcha. I think. is it these?

Yep! The rods connect the two rail sections, and the cams lock the shaped end of the rod into place.

I don't know what the right words are to describe these even in f*ckin Greek, but here are some images of interlocking pieces of wood (whole table pieces in this case, but should do for a rail too).

I saw that. Does anyone on here know if it’s any good?

I built a quickie 4-1/2' round table with that stuff once. But, only 'cause I needed it to be really lightweight & portable enough that I could put it in the back of an SUV by myself.

It's OK & works well enough for what it is. It's basically a piece of neoprene rubber formed like pipe insulation.

For a 4x8 oval you'd be looking at a tick over 20-1/2 feet. Which, at $4/ft is over 80 bucks.

Pricy, but a simple slip on/slip off solution.

Daft question but can you remember if it smells?

Cool. Got a photo of your rail / table?
I was able to dig out some old pics. Its a very basic table but works well. I use metal slide under rail cup holders. Woah.. didn't realize it was that long ago. Most of you guys were probably picking your noses in grade school... ;).

The rail just sits on top of the table surface. No attachments at all. Rail is always taken off after using. I do have some Table instructions that I saved from Scott Keen's old Poker Table site (PDF). PM me your e-mail and i'll send them to you. Good luck!!

Good ideas on here. Fit it snug enough there won’t be a need to clamp or screw down I would think.

If you want a down-and-dirty option, I did this once upon a time. It just clips onto the table.

1. I don’t know if a spray adhesive would melt the pool noodle, but if not you could probably cover it with a faux leather or other material.

2. At one point I considered ultra-powerful magnets as a solution (embedded in the table top and also the underside of the rail), but never tried it.

3. Another thought: a two-part topper with the rails attached to plywood half the size of the table, with a lay-in oval of felt glued to closed-cell foam. That way you have a top with a permanently attached rail, which can be folded or detached in two parts, but no ugly center line. The felt insert can be loosely rolled and stored, along with the rail/base halves.

I’ve got a mat and a topper. I’m giving some thought to cutting the mat to fit in the middle of the topper.

Do you have any pics of it attached to the table? I’m not quite getting it.
Sorry for the delay. It's a seldom used travel topper that I had to dig out of storage.

Ah thanks for going to that trouble. I didn’t expect you to do that. I just thought you might have had some photos handy.
That looks doable. Thanks again
