Rhodeman77’s cash games. Pics and stories (2 Viewers)

Well it’s been 3 weeks since I hosted a game and I need a fix!! Family life has been very busy and the new (soft) game I found have been hoarding my time. But I need to get MY chips into play.

Had a few regulars text me the last few days asking about a game so after a few more texts I was able to fill the table up pretty easy for Thursday Night Poker after a long hiatus of trying other nights.

Getting the recently expanded Casino Cancun’s into play. Plan on getting all 10 racks of $5’s on the table before breaking out the $25’s. It may look more like a limit game than a PLO game!

this is going to be so epic wish i could play in a game like that

Wow. I am jealous of your guests. Best of luck in the inaugural Casino Cancun game.

As @detroitdad said, any pot that hits $30 I take $3 out of. $2 of it goes towards the high hand and $1 to cover the food and drinks provided. We stop collecting at midnight when the high hand is paid out.

I had most of it right lol.

If anyone on PCF that is close to Adam and wants to be challenged at the poker table you should hit him up. I've played at his game twice and it is a blast. Its tough as shit, but a ton of fun.

Cool, it's nice to see how others have their game done :)

How did you approach your players with the 2+1 rake thing?
It seems like an good idea, but over here I'm not allowed to demand rake.
But maby I can ask for "tips" (but then I will feel like I'm begging), or settle with the group that all players "tips" an certain amount to cover food/drinks, the HH concept is cool too I guess :D
I'm not sure how to approach my guests with this subject.

Back in the day, we mostly played STT in a doll house (small cabin in the backyard) at my friends house, and everyone brought their own snacks and club soda and such, and we were under age, so we didn't make any real money.
But now I'm trying to create a group/playerpool to attend my home game.
And since I got a house and a tiny family I'd like to serve my poker guests some food, snacks and beverages, you know, because that's nice. But if I'd do this every time without charging/getting anything back from them, I would go bust..

Most of the players have played in other games that are really raked, like $3-$4 per hand or a $20 fee when you buy in. So $1 per hand for 5 hours is nothing to them especially with all that I provide for it. I have opened a bottle of JW Blue on occasion.

When I tell the new player about the game I’m up front about the $3 and how $2 of it goes right back to the players that night. I’ve never had a player say they won’t play because of it.

Technically my game could be considered illegal because of the $1 but I’m not concerned about it. I have a bunch of cops that play in it and those guys are degenerate gamblers lol!

@Emlemleml if you 're hosting regularly (more so if you 're the only one ever hosting), you can ask for the cost of the food and soft drinks, divided by the number of players. That's acceptable even by ultra-hospitable Christian Orthodox standards
If you' re not hosting really regularly, you could ask for the individual cost only from winners in the end, and swallow the cost for the losers yourself, as the host.
Alcohol can be perceived as a gift anyway, either from the host (you should provide some) or from the invitees (the should bring as much as they feel they need).

@Rhodeman77 I understand you 're an ultra-fine PLO player, but wouldn't it be more ballanced to play 1/2 the NLHE orbits and 1/1 the PLO orbits?

I have thought that and even posed the question here a while back and the general consensus was it wasn’t a good idea.

We just just had back to back straight flushes!

First hand flopped nut flush gets it all in with tilting semi drunk guy that flopped flush with open ended straight flush redraw and hits it in the river.

Very next hand guy flops the steel wheel and the other guy that made the straight flush the previous hand turns a set of 6’s and rivers 6’s full of 5’s and only calls the river bet. Mostly because he is scared of the guy and didn’t think about how strong his hand was. Normally he would yell out POT in that spot.
