So money’s somewhat tight, especially after springing for my first custom set, but the more I play with my group with people being wishy washy, the more I see the benefit of a round more social table for smaller groups. Curious if there’s sort of an equivalent to the barrington for round tables. Everything I ever see on marketplace or whatever is either shit or has horizontal chip holders, which ain’t fucking happenin, and I don’t see any 60” (give or take) round tables on reputable sites for any deals that seem that appealing. Anyone got any tricks up their sleeve?

I think there are several round table build threads. One of those might give you an economical solution like a topper or something.
I built my own toppers for about $150 apiece. They are stretched octagons so the rail is 8 pieces, not one continuous piece.

Here is a picture of one folded without the felt backing on it. This is the side that goes on the table but you can see the construction. Just don’t make it 8 ft long, stick to a half table with no fold, about 4 ft.

It can def be frustrating hunting for the right table for the right price. My best advice is to find something cheap that will work as a temp table until you find a stellar deal on a round table.

When I was hunting, I started searching locally for local poker tables on Fri, Sat, and Sun mornings. And, although rare, I would sometimes look nearby on HiBid.com for poker table auctions. Best advice I can offer. Good luck finding what you need!

For that price point @ekricket’s advice is solid. You could make your own round topper and find a cheapo table to put it on if you have the tools.

Do you have any more posts with pictures of your builds? It looks pretty compact folded cant tell how much padding on is on the rails. Looking at possibly making an octagonal topper as well as it seems a little easier on my non existent carpentry skills than a round table.

OP after reading about the social dynamics of round vs oval tables I also looked into readily available options. The largest I've seen is a Raychee octagonal like this

They have two different ones. The one with plastic looking racetrack is just slightly larger at 50" in in diameter. I think every little bit makes a difference above 48" to feeling less cramped. I don't think i'd be comfortable in terms of personal space with a 48" table and 8 players

Yea it seems like realistically I’d have to make one to get a decent size one without all the bs stuff like horizontal chip holders and such. I just didn’t want to go down that path cause I dread trying to build and upholster rails, don’t have all the tools I’d need.

Yea I saw that before, just not really what I’m looking for unfortunately. I appreciate the help tho. Seems like there’s a gap in the market for reasonable ~60” round tables without tracks or other garbage involved.

You can retrofit to cover the track and/or those chip slots. Here is a thread I did when I made some covers for my BBO Nighthawk slots

That crossed my mind, I recall looking throw that forum and it looks great. My biggest issue is time and tools. I don’t have what I need to really do it right and times tight with my two young apes. I was hoping to avoid having to do too much Reno work. But seems like that might be the only real decent option. I should give barrington a call and tell them to join the round world, give em the business, tell em what’s up.
