Most of my players are on the plus size, we play 8 max on my 60” round and it is comfortable, but still a little tight for felt space. That is probably because of the race track and cup holders. 7 handed it is perfect space wise. 58” with no racetrack/cup holders would be perfect over all.

Thank you all for your feedback. I landed on a 58" circle. Table production has begun and should be ready next week!

Doing 1/2" open cell foam under the felt. My other table has closed cell foam and it's a bit too firm.

The rail is a 5" rail with 2" of blue foam. Doing a blue and gray color scheme on the new table with a gray rail, blue felt main color and medium gray for the logo and pattern.

1/2" sounds a bit thick? I went with 6mm (1/4") HD open cell foam for mine as recommended by many and I wouldn't want it any thicker.

Same with the rail foam where I went with 1" HD open cell, again on recommendation and it's perfect.

I'm doing slide under rail cup holders so they said 1/2" under the felt would be better for that.

I'm going with more foam for the rail too so it gives a bit of a lift over the playing area. I'm not familiar with the blue foam that builder is talking about but they say it's as nice as you can get and it'll last longer against prolonged use. Supposed to have good and nice spring back.

I'll be interested to see how both lots of foam work out for you, sounds a bit bouncy :)

Blue foam, at least over here, is standard upholstery foam and is indeed meant to be hard wearing and does spring back completely.

I was worried too after your comments so I asked the builder about it. He said it's more expensive foam but I'll love it. His personal tables are also the 2" rail foam and they were quite comfy.

Next up will probably be some of the chairs from Alibaba everyone has been so happy with. Question is with wheels or no wheels and sliding legs so I can stack them.

In reagrds to the size, 48", 60" etc, is that the actual table size from inside of rail to inside or rail, outside of rail to outside of rail, or or something else?

I saw it as a measure of outside of the rail to account for seating and shoulder space. A couple others had noted that consideration should be taken to account for the playable space as well. I'm not planning on a racetrack or built in cup holders, but I will have a 5" rail so the playable area shrinks a bit. I think form playing on @CraigT78 's round tables which are 56" a 58" should work out well for me as far as playability as well as fitting into the space in the room.

10-4. Thanks!

Thoughts on Octagons? This one is available cheap in my area, thinking secondary table.

After over a month of waiting I was finally able to get the table in to play this past weekend. I couldn't be happier with the table! Games ran smoothly, we could hear everyone speak without having to yell (that doesn't mean we didn't get loud after a few drinks anyway), it was easier to shuffle and pass chips/cards to each other. For a few hours we played 8 handed but then 7 handed for most of the rest of the night. Just like Adam said, with 8 it's a bit tight not for seating space for but playing space in front of you when you have stacks of chips, cards, drinks and mutiple boards in play. 7 players was perfect!

Early on I was down 4 buy ins but was able to straighten the ship and book a small win at the end. Not bad for a maiden voyage.
