Roundtable discussion between CCA and PCF members (2 Viewers)

Poker Chip Forum (PCF) members, the Casino Collectables Association (CCA) Membership Growth and Engagement Committee would like to invite all of you to an open forum to discuss collaboration between the two groups. For the past 8 months, this committee has been meeting to discuss how to grow the hobby and we quickly realized that we need input from members of PCF. With the blessing of the current CCA Board of Directors we will be holding an hour-long session on Zoom. This will be a free flow discussion with members of the CCA Committee members moderating the flow of the conversation.

The committee has already come up with a list of topics that we would love to have your input on as well as discuss new and exciting ideas.

The Committee had designated the following CCA members to lead this effort.

Doug Balduini LM-8917-289 (CCA Recruiter of the Year)

One of the primary topics is how do we break down the us vs them when it comes to the hobby.

Help explain why people collect sets to single collectors and vice versa. Would someone be willing to display one of their sets at the CCA Chip Show and talk to members on what drives set collectors.

Talk about special events at the CCA Chip show that might be of interest to PCF members.

Some of these ideas are just to drive conversation so we are not sitting around looking at each other. This is really open to anyone on PCF because we want your honest feedback and if anyone want to suggest a topic we are open to all ideas. (Sorry we don't know why GPI is going full gas on customs to the public).

We know that some of the topics are CCA chip show centric since that is coming up soon but what can we also talk about what to do post show to increase open communications between PCF and the CCA.

I think this is an interesting idea, wish I had time to join the meeting. One of the topics I would like to see discussed is the murdering and milling of chips. Another topic is adding weight and exact color information. There has to be freaks in the CCA, like me, that think that info is valuable.

I don't really believe in the US vs Them issue. We are all collectors, with different goals in mind. As far as what drives someone to collect a set, playing with a set of chips from a real casino is a blast, imo

What's interesting is that the people who are most likely to engage on this, who have the historical frame of reference, who take part on both sides, who hold some form of gravitas from this side of the community, are likely to either be part of the issue or not necessarily be able to see it from an external, objective view.

I would personally guess that the majority of folks who have no idea what the CCA is, are newer to the hobby, or are focused on set collecting and never thought of single collecting - have no issue or knowledge of "us vs. them" - are obviously not folks that would join this.

Meaning 0 disrespect, and I may be WAY off, I'm guessing that a very large % of CCA members and single chip collectors are older adults. Still a guess, I'd think that most of the younger population and younger PCF population have 0 concern for the Us vs Them or learning/rehashing these issues.

I think a very helpful topic and maybe extremely important topic would be how to engage and/or market to the younger audience we might connect to on PCF. For example, an exact quote from a text between myself and someone who I would consider a very serious, albeit younger, chipper and collector while planning a Vegas trip: "We'll miss the chip show, but who cares tbh".

I think there is great opportunity to change our viewpoint, and in turn help protect CCAs numbers and relevance.

Great point and we are all ears. Help us guide the future of the hobby. I started collecting when I was 30 and 20+ years down the road I still am. To me a chip collector is someone who collects chips does not matter if it is a single or thousands. I hope you will join us next Tuesday.
