Had a two table tourney at my place last night for the first time in a *long* time, came out on top after grinding away card dead for 3 hours:

Then tripled up in the post tourney .25/.50 cash game. Good evening of poker.

The absolute best home game in my area shut down about 3 years ago due to the host having a baby and going on an epic downswing. I think his wife was twisting his arm to shut it down. Too bad. I went 51 for 51 sessions in that game and then lost $500ish each of the last two games. 51 for 53 ain't bad, but damn I hated breaking my streak.

However, he started his game back up again last Friday. Now he's running $1/3 NL (no more PLO booooo). I wasn't able to make it last week, but did go last night and after getting coolered for my first buyin in the first round and dropping down to $100 on my second, I thought the magic was gone. Then Jesus Christ himself reached down and inserted a horseshoe up my butt and I went on a heater to pick up something like 25% of the chips in play. So $600 in (capped $300 buy-ins until host gets stuck and agrees to big rebuys) and I ended up cashing out $1795.

These are his new "top quality" chips. I actually don't hate them, but I REALLY hate using blue $50 chips. Blech.

Is that yellow bottle full of lube so when you forcefully dominate the competition it stings less?

So sad when your card capper is worth more than the chip set.....

Not that far off actually since I had PNY primary and secondary $25s and $100s which I had brought for the host as new poker room-warming present. Guy is a big Yankees fan and has NYC memorabilia up around the room, so I thought he would dig them.

I also gave him one of emptypoc's "Call this!" chips in an airtite and he just about shit himself when I explained to him the cost of custom clays. Needless to say, he felt like quite the deal-finder when he explained how much he paid for his set (priced here at $79.95 for 500 chips at Discount Poker Shop). "You can feel the quality when you shuffle them. Nice and heavy." Of course I had nothing but compliments for the set, which honestly is a step up from his old chips.

bring a small stack of Clermonts next time to shuffle. You'll feel better.

Good move avoiding the lil green deuce card capper or you would've been -$2k.

Good story, bro.

Not mine but Todd Brunson posts starting and ending stacks on twitter. He hasn't said what the values are but only cares that he gets "paid in $100 bills" and he leaves a game once he is up 1k. The best I can figure is the Pharoahs are $25, blue starbursts are $10 and the peach starburst are $5. Gives me new appreciation for mixed sets and non-denoms.

My luckbox streak continued at the Friday night $1/3 NL game. One memorable hand illustrating my luckbox tendencies:

I raise to $11 MP with A2dd, get three callers incl host on button who has been running like dogshit. He has about $400 and I have him covered.

Flop ($37): AcAs5s

Check to me, I bet $25, one caller, host on button.

Turn ($87): 7s

I take a second and the host bets $45 out of turn. I think it's an angle and I check and he checks behind. I ask what the house rule is on out of turn action and he says he can check. I don't think his original bet was an angle, but I think he's clearly rule angling as the host here, but whatever, he's stuck a grand in the game, so I don't argue.

River ($87): 2c

I bet $55 he insta makes it $155. I think for a second and move in and he snap calls with AK with the K of spades.

$700 buy-in, cashout $2070. This was my stack not too long before the game broke, but I stayed and played HU with the host and he blew through another two $200 buy-ins. He only quit because the dealer had to go and neither of us wanted to self-deal HU. I'm starting to worry that this game isn't going to last and will get called off again by his wife if he has another minus $2k session.

Here's my stack from last night after doubling up on the chip leader, with Quad 3s, to his full house.
