Low limit grinder friend asked me to go with him to his local poker room, so I said sure.

Once there, I asked to be on the 2/5 NL and 5/10 NL list, then friend ask if I could play 1/2 NL with him instead, he said he had some leaks and wanted some advice - I begrudgingly said - sure.

1/2 NL at this place is Max buy-in $ 200, no match the stack, and they have a $2 promotion drop every hand, $6 max rake. WOW how can anyone be profitable. 8 dollars plus 1 dollar tip leaving the table almost every hand.

Well, let's just say, my friend was not the only player with leaks. I had no idea the play was - well lets just say - very questionable.

Typical hand, 5-6 players limp pre flop, the BB or SB raise to 15 (or someone else) , then everyone calls the 15. Now the pot is 75 - 90 and only a few players have nearly 200 or started the hand with 200, all others started with like 65 - 130 dollars, they all see a flop of course, then someone bets 15-25, into a pot of almost 90, some people fold some call. What the heck is going on???

Anyway. In for $200 - 2 hours later - out for 661.00. Fun time watching the wild action !!! (The chips are ceramic, faded pieces of junk, but I persevered.)

In the picture I am the BB and it already starts, UTG and UTG+1 Limp-Limp, etc.

Sunday O8. . . Well, they ran me through the ringer yesterday. Started here

1000010419.jpg

I dont know that I won/split 6 pots in 5+ hours. Even had i hung around with marignal hands, the flops, turns & rivers completely whiffed. Made the original 100 last nearly 2 hours than reloaded another 200. 3 hours later I was down to $37.

Tossed the dealer a chip, gathered my dinner comp and placed $18 on 6 & 8 at the craps table. 4 rolls later, 7 out, not even one collect. Only plus was running 20 to 60 at the bubble machine on my way oit the door lol.

- $260 . . . Sigh, maybe next week

Such a good weekend of poker. Only got to plug in about 13hrs of poker around the volleyball tourney but really enjoyed most of it. My overall ranking of rooms in Vegas:
  1. Venetian 1/3 ($300 max)
  2. Bellagio 1/3 ($300 max)
  3. Wynn 1/3 ($500 max)
  4. Horseshoe 2/3 ($500 max)
  5. Horseshoe 1/3 ($300 max)
  6. Mandalay Bay 1/2 ($300 max - I played 18hrs here last trip)
  7. MGM Grand 1/2 (uncapped)
Venetian was by far the best room. The double board PLO bomb pots every 30min added a lot of action to the table, even if players opted out. It just made the whole vibe juicier. The pizza and hot honey at Grimaldi’s made the trip worth it alone.

I barely got 30m at the bellagio but was enjoying it before I had to go. Extra points because I met Freddy Deeb on the way out of the casino.

Even though one of the shitregs at Wynn ultimately got me to get up and leave, it was a great room. My table was particular aggressive full of regs or trying recs and only a few bad recs. If I was going to sit for a full session I would have table changed after the action player left.

Horseshoe 2/3 played like 2/5 but with some really bad players. I overheard a man tell his wife in Spanish to stay out of pots with me since he thought I was good (I’m not) so she dumped to other players and I had to win most of my money from the rest of the table.

The first horseshoe 1/3 session I played in might have been the most boring limp fest I had ever played in. Do not recommend unless it is during the WSOP when action is available.

Mandalay was fine when I played there last summer but only because I had a few spewy drunks at my table.

I really wanted to Like MGM but even at the table with the deepest stacks the table was generally nitty. Nobody was engaging or interested in making the game entertaining. That hot stamp was great tho.

8 sessions
In for $3100
Out for $2990

Built a fleet of boats at Super Stud Super Pat at the Talking Stick 8/16 mixed that starts on Sunday mornings. Rotation is solid - Badacey, 2-7 TD, Razzdeucy, Badugi, Super Stud8 Super Pat, Dramaha, Dramaha 49, Archie, Double Board 5 card Omaha.

Had a fun hand where I made scooped a Dramaha Zero pot with a 6 low and queens full at Lone Butte’s 6/12 5 game mix (Big O, Super Stud no Super Pat, Archie, Dramaha, and Dramaha Zero).

Gorgeous!

What's the Super Pat part? I've played super stud8 (4 down, pitch 2 after the first bet) but haven't heard of the super pat.

From the local $100 NLHE with $25 bounties

1st break only around 11K everyone knows what that looks like.

2nd break looking better around 49K
IMG_3955.jpeg

Shoved around 79K with pocket aces and got called with JJ. Board comes X X J and just as I'm tossing the bounty chip across the table the dealer flips an ACE on the river. Table goes nuts and I smash the chip leaders stack.

3rd break 193K ish

Ended up chopping 4 ways which was fine by me ($804 each). I got second place money anyway and the chip leader was waaaaay ahead so I was fine with the chop. Good sesh.

Ugh! Did it again - Friend ask to go play 1/2 again (max buy-in 200,no match the stack), I said no , then he said he was buying all the drinks - I told him - I never said no that I would gladly go. Played 2 hours.

Friend still had some leaks- he was in for 130 - out for 201 - last session he was down 400 (2 full buy-ins)
He challenged me to start short stacked. Challenge accepted.
in for 110 - out for 612, no rebuys needed. Only had rebuys on the drinks. (gosh - hate these chips - so tilting)

almost forgot the funniest part, some of the people know me here...
and
Just before leaving and having since accumulated this stack, one of the players at the table said to - "excuses me sir - are you (and he said my name) and I said yes I am, then he turned to his friend who is a couple of tables away and said, "Yes, its him", then he Friend yelled back to him and said "you need to change tables" hahaha

Home games with beginners are stressful keeping the action flowing. Makes me respect dealers so much more.

But in for $100 and around $400
I don't mind playing with beginners, but good grief! Those chips would drive me mad!!! 5 different denoms $10 and under? And 3 different styles! :wtf::wtf::wtf:

Where in Florida is that? You've been killing that game, good God.
Will be headed back there in the near future, I had put 5 each of 5 dollar chips in my shirt pocket from change I received from ordering food and to use for tips.

I noticed them when I arrived home, now I have to go back and cash them. Will probably be playing at least 2/5, the rake is so darn high at this place, might be forced into 5/10 if they have a game running, at least some of those that run - pay table time and they do not drop money towards the bad beat and other promotional jack pots, so that saves 2 dollars per hand from being eliminated (down side is you do not have a chance to win those jackpots, but if you are playing 5/10 or higher, you are not there for the bad beat jackpot or high hand promotions anyway.)

Will see...

Seems like he should be listening to everything you tell him lol.
It has been a ride - for sure :)

Recommending solutions in poker is a lot like when I dive into strategy questions on forums or other platforms. I give my take of the optimal play, break it down, and share the logic behind it. And right on cue, someone usually responds with, “Well, you should’ve done this instead” or “Why not try that?”

Results speak louder than words. (or typed text), but you can't say that, it sounds like a Brag or Flex nowadays.

I am just answering the question, as I always say - Your mileage may vary. ( take it for what it is worth, but at least try it before you judge )

My new Slogan should be Free Lessons for Free Drinks!!!

Been sneaking away to Parx on slow work days and today was no exception. The only difference is that I had the hand of my life and binked a straight flush vs quad 6s. The win was good for 20% of the BBJ.

1/3 NLHE
Hero in the BB 5s7s
Folds around to hijack, makes it $12
CO calls $12
Folds to hero, call the $12

3 players

10c 3s 4s

Flop gets checked

Turn is 6s

Hero checks
HJ bets $20
CO calls $20
Hero raises to $50
HJ folds
CO calls $50

River 6d

Hero makes it $80
CO goes all-in
Hero calls

It took a bunch of luck as well as a questionable flop check by me, but it got there in the end.

First time hitting a straight flush using both hole cards and first time being involved in a bad beat jackpot hand.
