Chip-sters,
I have couples and ride sharers come to my weekly tourneys and often one "linked up" persons busts quite a bit earlier than the other.

What would be entertaining things to have for these people to do.

roulette wheel, cash game (usually not practical), ???

Don't have room/equipment for video games (old style or computer based).

We do have internet available.

There is always a poker stream or sports on the big screen TV (sound turned down) but my players don't seem interested in watching poker.

Personally, I would watch the game to gain intel and some do. But others move away from the table and just surf on their phone.

Looking to increase commraderie.

What would entertain you if you were waiting for your partner/ride share to bust?

Thanks

Cash game is the answer but that’s not always feasible, especially for the first few people busted. I’ve played a kitchen-table tournament where once the first three or four busted we rearranged and the people who were out played cash at the other end of the table. We could all still visit and hang out together but everyone was occupied.

Otherwise a game or something else on the tv is really the only other option for entertainment.

Not sure how your players would feel about it but as a “punishment” for being the first one knocked out you could make them deal the rest of the game.

I’ve actually given some thought to how to incentivize busted players to be willing to deal at least until the next bust!

I'm not into tournament play as much as I used to, so now I'm happy to play a little loose and fast in the tourney so I can get into the cash game more quickly.

Maybe get an emotional support service animal.
Christian Bale Idk GIF

Have first out deal. No need to incentivize, it's just a decent thing for first out to do.

When second player busts out those two can play darts, dominoes or dice games until enough to start a cash game have busted out

Have you considered cash games while keeping the total spend for the evening the same?

Set player expectations - tell them to bring 3 buyins each and and expect to win/lose one or two of them on an average night.

Set your 100bb buy in and blinds based on your existing tournament buy in. For example, if it's a $20 freeze out, play .05/.10 blinds, $10 buy ins, but ask players to bring $30 instead of $20.

Backgammon. Can be played heads-up or with multiple players (chouette). Lots of numerical parallels to poker, too.
