Not a bad upgrade from our first house. I was happy to have a 10x10 room to throw a table in before - I'm beyond grateful to call the new place home as of last year.

The old location (7 person table, 8 was an elbow cruncher). We mainly played in the garage after a while.

I'm conflicted. On the one hand, this looks so sad compared to what you have now. On the other hand, I wish I had even this amount of space to dedicate to poker!

Yeah thanks! When we moved from our apartment into our house a handful of years ago I was ecstatic to have a room with a door that closed, that had only a poker table and a TV in it! When we had an opportunity to purchase this place...well it's a pipe dream turned into reality.

Nice setup. Golden Tee, slot machine and poker table all in the same room.

If this were my room it would be bubble hockey, tabletop arcade pac man and poker table.
I have a dart board on the opposite wall that I'm sure will eventually come down in favor of more machines. Bubble hockey would be pretty amazing, but I'm not sure I'd get a noise pass from the wife!

I can attest that Sky Valley is beautiful and a very comfy place to play poker. Chris is also the consummate host!
Thanks Mark! I hope you've been able to notice the improvements over the last year. It sure feels like it's continuing to be more and more comfortable for everyone!

We're on a year anniversary for this place, hence me finally getting around to posting. The shelving/organization is ever ongoing, but there will be a permanent spot for 6 birdcages. The current sets on display - with thousands of faux clays, samples, and extra racks in the cabinets below.

Upper - The Beach cash, custom ASM/CPCs
Lower Left - Samurai Palace cash, BCCs
Lower Middle - Sky Valley cash, Sun-Fly 39mm/43mm hybrid
Lower Right - Husky Chuck's cash, custom ChipCo

Got a 3d printer over the holidays so I'm putting it to quick use.

I got a cash register for the bar so I could use the bar top next to the poker table as a cage. It helps with not rummaging through my pockets for cash management in running games, it makes tournament registration a breeze, and it acts like a literal cage when people are cashing in/out of the cash games.

The coin slot was wholly useless so I removed the dividers and got to work 3d printing a custom, modular chip racks. I measured out all sets and printed each one a precision fit set of barrels.

PXL_20230117_174835052.jpg

The modularity means I can mix and match the layout of the rack in the register to fit any combination of denoms and chip sizes from whatever set I want to put in play depending on the game and the chip set. 39mm/43mm is no problem.

Each set snug as a bug, and now adding people on in the middle of a cash game is easy as pie!

Single chip rule is for cash and tourney?
Yeah that's the way I run it. It doesn't take much to say the word "raise" when you're tossing in a chip. To be honest I'll usually ask immediately whether it's a raise or a call if there's non regs or non serious players in the game, but the guys we've been playing with for a long time already know the rules.

That's how I run my games. There are always non serious players so I inform them of the rule before hand but I immediately ask them to clarify intent and give a chance to correct it.

Part of the selection for the night, getting the near empties ready for polishing off.
PXL_20230331_224244384.jpg

Made a bad call to start the night. Flopped a set and just really wanted it to be good on the river when it definitely was not. Cracked a Guinness and settled back down. Rebuy #1, in for $200.
PXL_20230401_020521885.jpg

Then tragedy struck. Aces didn't hold, bad calls ended up getting there against me, and none of my made hands were good by the river. Within the first 2 hours I was in for 3 buys worth $350 in a .50/.50 game. Not the way I wanted to start the night.

I grinded back a bit, and sucked out on someone for $100 to finally to claw back towards even, and then went on a nice little run.
PXL_20230401_080637229.jpg

A whiskey and a cigar with @Mongoose got me right, and by the end of the night I'd reversed the bad fortune. Final tally in for $350, out for $565.

Crisis averted...until next time.
