Wow, now that's a spooky Halloween story. I lived the same way until I lost a single chip out of a rack. I've still yet to find a replacement and it bothers me to this day. Spares for everything now!

The worst thing is when you start thinking of your extras as part of your "regular" set.

The other night, the cat knocked down a box of my ASMs... I was able to find 99 of them, but couldn't immediately find the last one. For all intents and purposes, that chip could have been written off as one of my extras... but it drove me crazy that I couldn't find it.

Many chips/racks I've purchased, just didnt come with spares in the first place.

However, if I ever did a custom set, I'd get spares.
