Hi all.

I've been on a journey trying to find traditional acrylic racks for my CPC A-crest mold set. Bought two sets of the generally recommended racks for CPCs.

But I'm not satisfied they fit, they instead hover on rack edges without sitting down in the rack. That risks damage to chips once racks are stacked, especially in a birdcage, since all the weight is on the chip edge.

I know my CPCs are larger diameter than typical at ~39.6 mm. But even 39 mm Paulsons swing in these racks.

To gifs below demonstrate. One gif is Key West racks, the other Made in China (Spinetti's). In both gifs the first chip is Paulson, the second chip CPC.

Do chippers just accept this swinging in the racks as normal? Maybe people don't check this? Your chips do this?

I wonder if the Key West racks are the same as the acrylic ones offered on the CPC website? The CPC ones fit better than other racks in width, but I'll have to verify if the chips don't hit the bottom of the curve when I get home later.

I'd genuinely like to find out too. Twice I almost pulled the trigger on purchasing the CPC racks. The shipping cost to Australia stalled me; more than the cost of the racks.

My CPCs don't all fit in Justin racks. Some barrels do, some don't. Justin was in the process of having some slightly larger racks made with the same design, but I'm not sure when those are due to drop.
I've been following that also. Though chips would fit those, I prefer the aesthetic of traditional racks.

I should have probably said for my Paulson’s.

Watching that gif of yours @drdr , that would bother me lol…
I'm a bit perplexed. Racks are well recommended but perhaps most haven't noticed the swinging. Or maybe is generally acceptable as normal. Most focus is on getting the barrel length right for a snug fit rather than sitting to the bottom of the rack.

Everyone with traditional racks... go check? If they swing let know if you knew? Curious about all racks and chips, not just what I have.

Bump. Am really curious to know if people's chips swing or sit in acrylic racks.

Stupid gif won't embed properly ☹️

I love Justin Racks but yeah, 19 to a barrel isn't uncommon with CPC chips. I love the racks; stackability, and none of that leaning tower stuff with traditional uncovered racks. I just do 19 to a barrel and stack what doesn't rack up shuffle stack style out front. Doesn't bother me at all. Justin Racks for the win.

Huh. No one care. Beyond a few, anyhow.
Guess rack users don't worry or don't know about chips sitting in racks.

Surprised given the price paid for sets.

I have racks for my CPC's (and ASM's) but don't have this problem.

I do recall getting racks early on in the game (15+ years ago) that did something similar and they found their way to the trash rather easily.

I just looked through my eBay history (hooray for saving everything??) and see that I they were from a seller called $shipping-free$ that I can't seem to find anymore. This:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1521419420...EaovDwXVoVpCqnNecnyWsGFAmf|tkp:Bk9SR-Dhs_qgZQ

looks like their old postings, complete with the red text and font on the image, but I can't cay these are the same thing.

What I see in your images are racks where the barrel width (side to side as well as depth) are too small for your chips. Being that you are in a place that's tricky to get items like this easily (or cheaply) you might need to lean on someone to start measuring a variety of available racks so you can find the correct size before placing an order.

Good luck!

Thanks for info.

Just checking, the link you posted are racks you are happy with or are they the ones you binned?

Yeah, has been tough. Multiple vendors have declined to measure and instead just claim "they'll fit".

What is doing my head in is even Paulson chips don't fit/sit in th racks that were recommended for CPC. Is why I'm wondering if chips swinging in racks is accepted as normal.

I think most people (and even casinos) just drop the chips in without knowing how accurate the curve of the rack matches the curve of the chip.
As mentioned, it only really matters for stacking of racks for storage, as this would be more likely to cause damage than just a single rack.

Even though I like the look of traditional racks, all my clays are now stored in Justin racks or Warneke boxes. However, I do keep the acrylic racks for game night. It’s easy to take the acrylic rack and place it upside down on the chips in a Warneke box and transfer them with a flip.
I just wasn’t comfortable using acrylic racks for long term storage.

The ones I posted have an ad that looks like the ones that I bought and like, but they are not from the same seller.

I can't find that seller on eBay anymore, so I can't say one way or another if these are the same thing or not.

Racks that fit Paulson chips have never fit CPC/ASM chips and never the other way around as well.

I have long term stored my chips in acrylic racks kept in acrylic cages to keep the dust off. I've never had a problem, never felt I needed anything like the Justin racks (I don't care for how picky stacking multiple racks with those little tabs are), but have also never had ill-fitting racks.

Cheers. As always, good input.
Flipping the box onto a rack... chipper life hack! Hadn't thought of doing that.
