It's a sign!

Here's another HP placement. Clever guy that Tree.

A no show without a call or text is an insta-perma-ban in my home game.

I might propose checking afterwards about why. Meaning, one time I had someone no-show to an offsite meeting (yes, not poker) and it was because they were in a car accident and their phone broke when it was thrown around in the car. They got a pass for missing that meeting.

I had a guy no show for a poker game. He had found his father -law dead an hour before game time from a heart attack.

I don't punish people for not coming. If you miss you get a goose egg for the week. (Lowest two scores of the season dropped) so it only hurts you to miss one. That being said most of the non showing had let me know in advance.

Just not used to that many not showing. Especially at the start of the season.

@Mr Tree , I've gone through all 22 pages of this thread, but don't see many pictures of your full cash set in it's entirety... any more pictures to share of the chips? they are absolutely one of my favorite custom sets... the colors are fantastic...

Thanks for the kind words! I did a big add on a year ago (2100 chips now - intending to take it to 3000 not counting the $2s which I want an additional 2000 of) and don't think I've taken a picture of the whole set since then but here are some more.

Please note that my zero was not penciled in as I gave a one month notice, so do not include me in your trolling generalizations about no-shows being pond scum. :P

Third round of the IDPL was Saturday, I knew I was off to a bad start when I counted my 25s in stacks of 5 rather than 4 and told Tom I was short.
Starting stack (+$1000 for being there before 7pm)

Started off okay, built up a bit, knocked out BBQ Mike for my one and only bounty with JJ vs 10 x? with 10 high on the flop.

Color up time and I was up to about 2.5 buy-ins.

Then came the Aces.

I raise with AK, get short stack all-in. Call, he flips AA, I lose about half my stack. I get a little back, but karma gets me when I try and simplify a "complicated" pot chop that I was getting half of (put 5 100s in one stack, the excess 500 in another, and split the remaining 100s, don't ask me to throw in a 500), so that negative energy gives me KK about 5 hands later and I am 9300 all in to a 3000ish raise (he had JJ) with blinds 600/1200 if I recall. The guy sitting next to me, his Dad, who was the guy I kinda snapped at about the complicated chopping issue, calls me, JJ folds (as did a 99 I heard) and Dad flips AA. Karma is a bitch so I lose, and I am out about 19 or 18th. Then it takes me like 6 pocket searches to find my bounty chip while Tom is waiting. Sigh....

Good to see Dave and Dave (grats on the Grand Victoria set) and all the usual characters. I will one day learn all the names, but I am terrible with names, so do not be offended if I forget yours.

Good time Tom as always, next month hope to be back at the final table.

I got in a wild hand with AK as well. I raised in mid position with it to 2000 with blinds at 400/800 (no calls in front of me. My stack at the time was about 15K.

The cutoff counts out the chips and slowly calls. The button then looks at his cards and then caps them and thinks for a while. Finally he counts out a raise to 5800.

I tank. I've decided that I'm either shoving or folding out of position but I can't shake a hinky feeling that the button is sitting on a monster. Finally I deliver a little speech about what a nit I am and fold. The cutoff then goes all in and is snap called by the button. Cutoff flips over KK and button shows AA.

At this point I feel elated about my fold and tell them they are both pulling one outters.

Then the flop comes with a K and the whole table erupts that the cutoff hit the one outter.

Then the turn is the case A.

I heard you talking about that one, thought you might have been in it, since you were saying you lost the minimum there. I need to check my email to see who won still, busy time of year for us, Oct 17th final filing deadline. Sigh. And I edited BBQ Mike not Matt, names are hard.

Capped off a great week of poker with a my first decent run (in three league seasons) at the Post. Three-handed, short-stacked (3000/6000 blinds), and facing a 30K raise from the button, I pushed 78K all-in with AJ from the small blind and hoped for a fold. Dawn stalls but finally calls, showing A9. Flop is 8 8 9, turn rag, river ace - hand domination is overrated. She had me covered by T4000 (just two pretty tiger chips), so finished in 3rd, instead of heads-up with an equal stack. Finally broke through the HP ice though, so that was a big plus.

Under 20 bigs you should just get it in and not worry about monsters under the bed. Too much equity with AK here to ever fold pre.

I disagree. My m was 12. Not great but not hurting by any means. The raise to 5000 from that player is a play I would range him from QQ to AA to make. I think carte blanche shoving with AK there is a facile move.

Well I am happy to agree to disagree, that's what makes poker so great after all. :) I think everyone would agree that those are some dope ass hot stamps!

Though of your card room when I saw this at the dentist office today.
