After settling on the Mayfair Club as a theme, here's a first crack at it. I'd love any input from the gurus and the peanut gallery :) Im not married to any of it, so feel free to hack at any parts you don't like.

Some thoughts:

- I went for muted colors, no dayglo, simple edgespots and design
- 312s inspired by the few pictures of Mayfair chips we've been able to find
- The inlay design is inspired by another closed down, illegal gambling operation (chip trivia... which one?). I loved the old timey feel so I mocked it up with Mayfair Club/New York. I'm definitely not 100% sold on the inlay design, but I do like general style of it
- workhorses are the .25/1, followed by the 5 >.05 > 25

Overall I like the aesthetic and the throwback to NYC cardrooms will always be meaningful to me. But it's a pretty straightforward design, and I may regret not doing something more with the set. But on the other hand, not every set has to be filled with 3V123DS312878s...

No just a regular sample set, but I was thinking about renting the package that Irish put together before I make any final decisions

Thanks Don.

And @manamongkids... did your comment imply "these colors are so bad that this guy obviously does not have a color sample set" lol :(

please dont let take this offensively, but until you have a color sample set in your hand, you are wasting your time with mockups.

I had done similar to what you did, mocked up on the CPC design tool and when I got my sample sets, I didnt use a single color I originally thought I wanted

Once I got the full color sample set I changed mine around as well.

As for the OP. I prefer the first one. In both sets I don't not like the edge spots of either 25.00 chip.

The key west set that I just purchased has the same concept with all 312 edge spots. I really like it. Well, until I sell it next month (because of over spending on my custom cpc set).

I like it. The only thing that stands out to me is the 25 cent denom seems bolder than the other denoms. Perhaps adjusting the font size would do it. Are you planning to go with the A mold?

The inlays were kind of thrown together, so I definitely might have had a different font size in there. Even if it's the same, I agree it does stand out a bit. I like the style of the A-mold since it has a throwback feel to it. Ideally I'd probably go with MD50, but I'm working with somewhat of a budget and I'd prefer 30% more chips and A-mold over MD50. It's a shame that mold is losing it's mojo...

Love the second mock ups. The only one I'm not a fan of is the $25. I would try green with orange spots.

Prefer #1, but agree with all other comments (hot-stamped fracs, 25c denom, get color samples, etc.). Inlay design is classically simple, and fits the theme well. I like the A-mold, but the H-mold is probably a better choice for a throw-back mold feel.

^ FYP ;) It's called the Hotel California chip syndrome. Chips can check out anytime they like, but they can never leave. Common affliction around here.

I doesn't seem to be too commonly used, but I really like the H-mold. There should be a sub forum for wife-related budget negotiating strategy...
