Not so much pr0n, but a cool mail day yesyerday, nevertheless. Painstaking job of taking the labels off nearly done.

Didn't realise I'd need to buy a separate power bank to use it though, so sanding the pictured chips to create a smoother surface for labels will have to wait.

Anyone used one of these Proxxons at all?

P.S. some WTHC pr0n coming tomorrow.

This can’t be good ... been seeing this tracking message since Thursday. The day it was originally supposed to be delivered. :(

That stinks! I wouldn’t worry quite yet though.

I’ve had that message 5-6 times before (once with a $1,400 uninsured package :nailbite:) and they’ve always showed up. I even have a package (non-priority Mail) right now that’s had that message since November 1 and I’d still say it’s at least 50/50 it’ll get here. Give it some time and it should arrive if not a few days late:tup:

So I think Denver USPS is running slow, I've had several delays myself coming in and going out this week.

It could be we had an ice storm and then 6 inches + of snow this week.

Although to play the other side of the coin. We recently had our mailman stealing packages lol. We were missing packages that said delivered. Waited a couple weeks called the post office and they said it was an ongoing issue with our route carrier. Guess he decided he was quitting so his whole last week he just took all the packages on his route home....

I'm sure you're fine though o_O

Just driven two hours to pick these up... And am a little lost for words right now, I won't lie; 500 WTHC in essentially mint condition, all razor sharp edges on first, quick inspection.

The woman said she bought them about 15 years ago, but really didn't have any use for them anymore so they were just gathering dust in a storage facility.

I couldn't wait to post pr0n, so these have been taken from the passenger seat in my car. Better photos to follow once I get home... and gather my breath.

Well, at first, the breakdown didn't seem great, but I knew these chips HAD to be mine. On further inspection, they are literally perfect for my eight-player game; both 1/2 cash game and T10000 freeze out.

I have to say that, prior to picking these up, the allure of real casino Paulsons meant that I had never really considered myself a fan of the consumer market molds and designs.

Seeing and handling these in person, however, I have to say that the spot patterns, progressions and way in which the colours pop have blown me away. 10/10... and now I want GPI to re-enter the home market, ha!

Very nice pickup! I always loved this set for the reasons you mentioned, and shaped inlays!

Thank you! Yeah, it's pretty much perfect in every way... The shaped inlays, apart from maybe the blue 1, are awesome.

Now we can’t be friends. Blue $1 FTW. Except the NYNY $1. I’ll make an exception for that one only.

Edit: I misunderstood. We can be friends again.

Yeah, the shape on the $1 is odd.

Hahaha, yep, I was on about the shape... The shape is weird but the colours are beautiful. I'm with you on the NYNY white dollar, too... So underrated.

Jack,

Congratulations on this wonderful find. They are BEAUTIFUL!

For security reasons, I take it?

For me, personally, beyond the security issue, it's nice to have a cool different set for cash game purposes. It's aesthetically pleasing and refreshing to have a different set. Especially when you have concurrent games running Tourney and Cash. Although, I don't know your setup and if it's family friends kind of game. Then, it's all good!

Cheers buddy... I'm over the moon, naturally!

Yeah, it's a game amongst friends, so I'm not hugely concerned about the security issue tbh. Likewise, it's either tourney or cash at my place; not enough room to run both, sadly. I agree though, the aesthetic thing is key, for sure... Which is why I've got two separate cash sets, ha!

Looks like you were correct … supposed to be delivered today!

Basically, someone could pocket a couple 25's in a tourney, then sneak them onto the table during a cash game. If your game is a close-knit group of friends and family, it probably won't be an issue...until it is. By the same logic, a player could track down some extra 25's on eBay for $4/chip, and get an instant $20 profit. That's the number one reason for custom chips. Again, unlikely your trusted friends will do this, but it's better to eliminate the possiblity. Plus, more chips are always better.

That said, there are thousands of friendly home games that use dice chips and just pile the cash in the box, and they carry on without incident. But if the bank comes up short, you're the one who has to cover it.

Congrats on a beautiful set of chips!

Doesn't counting the chips at the end of the tournament negate this? I'd be pissed if any chip was ever missing and I'd know immediately and wouldn't run the cash game with the same chips

Sure, but it's not out of the realm of possibility, especially if one is careless in managing chips.

For most home games, I wouldn't worry about it, but I was just explaining the potential issues.

I agree with the fact tourney and cash chips should be separate, I am not arguing that, I just think it is easily avoidable unless you have thousands of chips and you don't count at the end.

This is another reason I like using a 20 in a cash set and starting the tourney with 25s.
