Joe and the other members from NJ not to get into politics here but Governor Smurphy is going to get a Bond Loan Bill passed where NJ is borrowing a load of money and one of the provisions in there is if the state can’t pay back the loan they can enact a state property tax to pay off the loan. He says many other bills in the past had this provision in it. This is the first I have ever heard of this. So imagine local municipal property tax, then state property tax, and then a tax for when I sell my house and exit the state of New Jersey. The Exit tax we have is the kick in the balls right before you leave.Just my own speculation, and I don't at all mean to be classist here, but the wealthier members here with high end chips have no incentive to sell if the buying market is going to be limited. Lots of people are tightening up their spending citing instability with finances due to job loss or other expenses.
Just speaking for myself, I do ok but I'm not a player for high end sets by any means. As soon as my son goes back to daycare, and God forbid, if I have a second child, my budget for play money and spending is going to be going down to pay for day care for two kids. I'm trying to get my sets rounded off ASAP and my CPC orders in because 2021 spending is going to be low based on when and if child # 2 comes.
Also got my estimated property tax bill for 2021, projected 8.5% increase after a 3% increase last year. Thanks COVID
Fwiw, not all members here with high end chips are wealthy (raises hand). Making broad assumptions is rarely accurate.Just my own speculation, and I don't at all mean to be classist here, but the wealthier members here with high end chips have no incentive to sell if the buying market is going to be limited. Only making the point that those with steady incomes have little incentive to sell if only a handful of other posters can afford to pay the asking price given various reasons for financial insecurities because of the pandemic and it's fallout.Fwiw, not all members here with high end chips are wealthy (raises hand). Yup. I would be considered lower middle class.Fwiw, not all members here with high end chips are wealthy (raises hand). Making broad assumptions is rarely accurate.
You're welcome! I didn't do anything!
The blurples!View attachment 483296
Love these chips! Now I have to decide which 500 I like better, these or the blurples I have.
Is it just me or have the Classifieds been relatively dry lately?
I feel like for every one for sale post, there are 20 WTB posts. Everyone wants to buy, no one wants to sell. It's DeBeers of casino chips
TBH I don’t even know what would classify someone as „wealthy“ these days. I certainly count myself as fortunate that both my wife and I hold down good jobs that pay well (though living costs here in Switzerland help compensate some of that!). I wouldn’t classify myself as wealthy though by any stretch. Maybe it all just comes down to perspective?Fwiw, not all members here with high end chips are wealthy (raises hand). I blame @juankay20 for buying everything that hits the classifieds and cornering the market haha

You're definitely not. Honestly I figured it would take much less time than it did to see a lull in classifieds listings as a direct or indirect result of COVID.But, so I am not just imaging it right?
I hear ya. I know my business has been hit hard and I thought we had just turned a corner when the FL spike reared it’s head and now the medium term future is looking particularly grim for my business.
I could also see some people just not wanting to trade away sets to if they aren’t playing home games. Or perhaps they are just not chipping at the moment at all if they aren’t playing.
Good luck on #2!
