Really interesting. Would have been really great to know how many of those Desert Spa $5s had been ordered in 1958. I now have 9 racks (plus 40 chips) of them, and they’re all in amazing shape. But if they shut down in 1958, it would stand to reason that they weren’t used that much at all, which explains their mintyness.
I’m confused, what are we talking about? I saw someone tagged you as well.

Had them changed them out. Not really sure why. Lol. They give a very deep tone on their own. The originals were brighter. Coupled with my .012-.054 strings the rhythm setting is very muddy. With some overdrive it sounds great. But clean, meh..
The tail piece is kind of an experiment. I miss the locking system I had with my Ibanez. Not for the tremolo but the ease of fine tuning with the bottom rather than the machine heads. Those will probably be next. I’m not a huge fan of grovers. They seem to have a bit of play. I’ll save up for some gotohs.
