The Official Royals PrOn Thread! (3 Viewers)

Need some labels first! May be a while as I’m still messing around with chip colours and inlay design decisions...
Cool bro! They look nice. I'm looking forward to the results.

These chips are growing on me and I should have been in the initial group buy. There was better pricing in the initial offering I think right?

Congratulations on a nice set there. I can see the results will likely be astounding

@Kidsthesedays We exclusively play 25¢/50¢ NLHE but I want to start playing hi/lo split games or double board games with possible bomb pots.
No method to the madness of my breakdown, truthfully I'm trying to anticipate our needs based on previous games.

Finished oiling a rack of Royal blurples
Here's some pron before I head out to work:cool

Looks great man. I'm in the slow process of oiling mine. Hopefully they turn out as good as yours did. What oiling method did you use?

Since this thread has a decent amount of traffic I'm going to ask a quick easy oiling question (It's about the Royals!)

I have cleaned and lightly oiled all my pre-labeled chips (and they look GREAT) but I have some 500K labels coming tomorrow. I have wiped the blank chips with a damp towel to get the chalk off. They look better but the spots are still kinda dull (it's the white "flag" color chip). I know not to oil it now......but can you lightly oil it after labeling? Label then let that stick for a few days then a light wipe with with a damp/oil towel? I don't want the label to come off and if I have to leave as is, that's fine. I don't expect the white to "pop" like pink, red, etc.....but wouldn't mind the spots on it getting a bit more vibrant.

Once the label is applied, they are safe to oil. Just remember, a little goes a long way.

What if you slightly oil chips prior to labelling? Maybe a week or two before?
Really, any contamination is going to affect how well the labels adhere to the chip. And oil is (most likely) going to cause a real problem. It's definitely best to apply oil only after the labels go on.

(Now you've got me wondering about how to safely remove oil for applying labels... Hmmmm...)

Rubbing alcohol (91%) seems to do a nice job - just takes a little work.

Acetone does a great job, but - although these chips seem to handle it just fine, I wouldn't use anything that astringent unless it was truly necessary. I wouldn't want to accidentally damage the clay.

Ok I will look into this, would the label just not stick to the chip? Or would it become loose over time?

I would say it was only around 5% oil with 95% water when I wiped them over.

Before taking the time to wash then label then re-oil them all, I would start by labeling enough to make a shuffle stack, and shuffle them for a month or two. If the labels stick, you are good to go.

Then again, you oiled before labeling. I'm guessing patience isn't your strongest attribute.
