I wanted to start a new Pron thread in the hope that these projects catch on with others, or people that already have travel sets share!

@BSteck linked me a case he uses for his travel set on eBay and that started this project, which I will admit is super fun to build and design around, and a hell of a lot cheaper than building a full set.

Pictures of the case which holds over 200 chips with no cards or about 170 with cards and a dealer button below. I also included the breakdown of which I am building my set around (pron coming in the future).

Post up pics of your smaller travel sets or get to building!

Great idea for a thread! My boys and I have gotten to playing 3-4 handed NLHE tourneys, and we'll bring a travel set on vacation to play. I bring a mixed rack of some old nexgens to cover this, I was afraid of bringing a nice set of clays on a long summer road trip where the heat might damage them. I've used a plastic chip case, that travel case you posted looks pretty cool - can you provide the link or eBay user you got it from?

Honestly I am not sure if there are any identical ones left. There was 1 for auction yesterday and another for buy it now that was over priced at $25 shipped. I paid like $6 for the case and $9 for shipping I think. It was called "The professional players poker chip set"

I am building a 3 headed OFCP travel set that is exactly 100 chips.
This is a better idea.
Breakdown for 3 man OFCP set is:
10 - $1’s
13 - $5’s
9 - $25’s
1 - $100
400 points Per person
Add a $500 to round out the rack and allow for a re-buy.
Adding on for the travel set:
20 more $1’s
11 more $5’s
23 more $25’s
Maybe switch the $100’s and $500’s to NCV’s?

Ncv would work better for max flexibility could be used as a frac for small heads up game. I like the idea of 1 rack travel sets if the numbers work, but the case holds 170 pretty easy and MOAR CHIPS

Here's my travel setup. I use that same “Professional Players” neoprene case that @saleen121212 showed above with a set of 160 chippies and it works great.

And here's my spreadsheet of the scenarios I can cover with the set.... but realistically it's either penny games with the wife or .25/.50 with a few buddies. You could also play the set as $1/$5/$25/$100NCV but I'm not that kind of high roller to need it in my spreadsheet.

I also have this setup of travel Majestics that now are just hanging out in the cabinet since I've upgraded to the Colorado Club Paulsons. I've obviously become such a chip snob that CC's aren't even good enough for a travel set.

I've updated the breakdown to 40/40/20 to (1) have even barrels and (2) cover up to 5 players.

Heads-up: starting stack ranging from 5000 to 7000 (20/20/x) on opening blinds 25-25 or 25-50

Heads-up : 5000 to 7000 on opening blinds 25-25 or 25-50.
Both players getting 20/20/x
3 players : 2500 to 4000 on opening blinds 25-25 (100BB - 160BB)
2 players get 16/16/x
1 player gets 8/8x
4 players : 2500 to 3500 on opening blinds 25-25 (100BB - 140BB)
2 players get 12/12/x
2 players get 8/8/x
5 players : 2500 on opening blinds 25-25 (100BB)
All players get 8/8/3

Color-up of the 25's with 500's.

So this isn't a travel set??

I thought that's why they call them travel cases? Can even play them on a plane
20210110_133332.jpg

Almost the whole plane can play! Lmao

Sorry... in all seriousness currently our travel set is @detroitdad Sunset customs
20210227_114444.jpg

We have a breakdown of
(80) $.25 (80) $1 (80) $5 (40) $25 (10) $100, 2 decks of bridge cards (we usually use Poker) Bill's custom cut cards and an Acrylic Dealer button in the case
20210209_173010.jpg

That's purdy...

For the most part we call our Travel sets, warm up sets as we typically play Tourneys.

This one is sub 300 chips and built for 8 players
20210303_163048.jpg

They live in the exact same case as Bill's chips above but I don't have a cased shot of them currently.

Current Breakdown is: (80) $1 (64) $5 (54) $25s (40) $100s and (17) $500s

We play these in turbo quick tourneys... 5 minute blind increases with lrge jumps levels to keep the game quick! T500 SS with blind levels of 1/2, 2/4, chip up while playing 5/10, 10/20 chip up while playing 25/50, 50/100 typically done right there at 30 minutes! Lots of fun!!

Another one that @FordPickup92 is working on are the Rodeos, sub 300 chip set
20210222_184500.jpg

Currently acclimating 6 players if we can find one more $1 chip, we have not played these yet but same concept as above.

Also a work in progress are our mixed Trump casino set all on AC house molds
20210124_132423.jpg

This is a long slow build as almost all of these chips cost well over face value. The hope is someday for a 5 player set using snappers as a $.50 frac but not relabeled, just use them as fracs.

The goal set would be (50) snappers (100) $1s (100) $5s and (35) $25s... going to take a long time to ever get close to those numbers though. 285 chip set total!!

Personally I don't find heads up poker entertaining so that's about the smallest a set would be for us.

You could probably use these pics to pitch a new streaming series. "Have Chips, Will Travel"!

Putting IG GO's to use in an Indiana Grand travel set. Love the Justin racks and the Nanuk 904. Baby brother to the full set of 800 in the Apache 3800.

60 x 0.25 (primary snappers soon to be over labeled)
78 x 1
42 x 5
12x 25
8 x 100

Allows 6x buy-in from $20 up to $200 for a 0.25/0.50 game without too much change-making
