I'm not sure if many people have seen these, but the high-end plastic injection molded chip makers such as Bud Jones, Bourgogne et Grasset, Abbiati, Matsui, etc. all have these manual color wheel sets called the "puzzle set."

The system is a bit antiquated, but gives you a live idea of what the edge spot patterns would look like on their traditional 1-2-3-color chips. I used to have a Matsui set a while back but traded it away. But now I have a B&G set which is more comprehensive.

I don't have many B&G chips, so I used @<°)))><) 's Dragonara B&G set as a sample to piece together from my puzzle set.

Just thought I'd share. Enjoy!

Very cool. I could see hours wasted playing around with those.

You got that right. It was a total PITA to put those puzzle pieces back into that B&G rack. You'd have to stack them just right, otherwise they wouldn't fit.

** And I know I screwed up the blue on the LM 1 chip, but dammit I don't want to restack those puzzles.

Very nice!!
(I was about to discuss your blue color choice but you know it already :) )

Thanks for sharing! I've never seen this before. Very cool.

Very nice! I'm a real BG fan :) (Dragonara, Eldo, Concorde cash and Concorde céramique SNG)

I have never even heard of this thing. This might be one of the coolest chips associated things ever.

It also never occurred to me till now that B&G is in the heart of Burgundy. What say you bivey (Chateau de Noix)?

How about that, @bivey, show up at B&G's door and demand a tour. And samples. And samples for your friends. ;)

Here's some more incentive... Vive la France!

i don't really play with them anymore. if there's interest, i'd be happy to send it to tommy for one of his giveaways.

-gc :)

Oh yea, that was the other set that I had, Abbiati puzzles.

I had in my mind they were Matsuis, but seeing this, now I remember they were Abbiatis. They made the edge spots on the samplers really small to match the actual size on the 39mm chips.

Here are some pics from back in the day... looks like there were 41 puzzle pieces in all. I see in my pic there were 2 sleeves of 20 each, and one pocket was stuffed with 2 puzzles.

You guys say puzzle like there is an answer to the riddle.

We all know damned well that there is no answer, no perfect edgespot combo or progression. But we all have fun trying!
