I think I'm leaning towards the White / Lavender 314 for the 500. Time to move on to settling the issue of the T25 base color. We don't really have access to a color that has as much blue in the gray as the El Rancho $25 does, but while holding the gray sample I really got a feeling for how much blue is in it. It seems like a decent amount. Going purple almost seems like getting further away from the mark. What do you think, @pltrgyst ?
....
Right now Lineup #1 is winning the chip race in my mind.

Like some others, I love the $25 in #3, too. But I agree that the color combos in #1 are more true to the time period.

In the end, go with what *you* want to be playing with! The rest of us will still be squabbling over them if you ever put them up for sale.

Defo go retro!

Best fit for the set. :)

Lineup #1 is ly clear favorite. If you've got a color sample, you should oil one face of the chip before deciding, colors before and after oiling are very different...

Now about getting an artist. Obviously, J5. I've seen p5woody's name thrown around. Who else is doing chip work these days?

Preaching for my friend, but @PokerChipsDesign (Alain-Pierre) who is also a site vendor does an amazing work as well.

Speaking of design, are you considering going 100% 1940s Rancho style with your tower / typo design, or are you sticking to the old-school look?

That's a good point about oiling my sample. I've had it for 6 years and I've never thought about oiling it! o_O

I plan on working out the final style when I start working with the artist. I really like the imperfection of the denom typos, but I'd like to keep the sytlized "The Signal" text if possible. I'll post some mockups as they start coming in.

Right now, I'm going period appropriate colors in #1 over the runner up #3.

I would highly recommend ordering an updated full sample set. With all the changes in recent years and the subsequent clay formula changes, I would be hesitant to use anything older than a couple of years.

Another good point. I'll get one headed this way.

WOW. @machinelf back in action big time. These are exceptional.

Really tough, but the highlights for me are 4, 11, 14, and 20.

I think I'd be going 20. So hard to deny that black background with the blue script.

First take: I like #3 and #9. I'm drawn slightly more to the second row, with the more dramatic letters/signage.

The darker options are neat, and definitely have the right palette for a chip targeting that era.

Overall really great. Not a bad option in the bunch, really!

Hard to argue with that. #9 vs. #20 for me, depending on whether your heart is set on light or dark inlays.

7 > 20 > 8

Awesome work really. It's going to be an awesome set. I guess it just comes down to whether you want the attention on the hotel image or the name.

Number 4 is my favorite, but there are several other good options. I think I would stick with white background though.

17 but with a different font for "The Signal".

I think the denom could be a touch smaller as well, to allow a bit more room for the "The Signal" text to be larger

I really like any of the first 3 because larger tower, element placement and font for time period and style, but would love to see those in black inlay versions. Also a fan of #20. Some awesome choices!

Thanks for all the responses, guys. My first impressions were that I really liked 7, 9, and 20. I like @MacGrad's suggestion that we try a combo. I'm going to take the favorites and apply them to the chips for a lineup for further discussion
