Thoughts on Dealer cut out in table? (1 Viewer)

What’s everyone’s thoughts on having a designated dealer cut out in their table?

Do you hire a dealer to use it? Do you play from it? Do you leave it empty?

If I’m not planning on hiring a dealer, should I get a table without a cut out?

Any other thoughts welcome.

IF youre not having a true, dedicated dealer, dont have a cutout.

Don’t get one unless you have a dedicated dealer. I did and regret it.

Not a fan of it, even if you have a dealer majority of the time. Put a drawer under the table or have a side cart with chips, cash, etc. if you have a dealer they can use a rack to collect tips or put them in a shirt pocket even and color up as needed. The times you don’t have a dealer it will be more annoying that any benefits you think it brings.

If you are self dealing a 60 inch round table is much better IMO.

FYI, I used this table for years with a dedicated dealer. No real problems.

I ain’t like the dealer cut out at all…. Sitting close to this cut out makes me feel uncomfortable I need a nice rail left and right

As someone who hosts lots of new people I like it. I dont need to be dealing every game, but when half my games are teaching sessions its nice on my back to be able to control the pot and cards from the middle. I can see it as a hinderance though for many. Im torn if I end up building my own.

I think cutouts look weird for home tables. Dealer trays too. If you know you’re going to hire a dealer for every game, then sure, get a table with a cutout. But if not . . .
Well personally, I’d much rather deal without a cutout than play in the cutout position.

I agree a round table would make it easier for dealing... but the oval tables just look so much better.

If you think ovals look cool, that’s fine. But the only things ovals do better are the reasons that casinos have them, and none of them are game improvements.
They fit more people and they fit into rooms better.

We used a round table for years when we self dealt. And one of the guys had a beautiful custom round table made for his poker room. I am sure one of the table builders on this forum could build u a spectacular round table that u would be proud to show off. Self dealing on an oval table is an extreme pain in the ass. BUT I for one am a big fan of having a dedicated dealer so I am 100 percent in favor of having dedicated dealer and dealer cut out. The only time I deal cards now is at meet ups.

I am sure one of the table builders on this forum could build u a spectacular round table that u would be proud to show off. Self dealing on an oval table is an extreme pain in the ass. BUT I for one am a big fan of having a dedicated dealer so I am 100 percent in favor of having dedicated dealer and dealer cut out. The only time I deal cards now is at meet ups.

I can understand that a dedicated dealer would be awesome… but I just don’t think it’s realistic for my .25/.50 game lol. I’ve looked around at some round tables… but I’m still not sure. I would rather have seating for ten, but I suppose eight isn’t an absolute deal killer.

i admit, i kinda like the dedicated dealer.
Someone to steer or keep the action moving on the table. Last game i played i got one guy staring off into space with no idea where he’s at.

Skip the dealer cut out unless you have the dealer. I made that mistake and it was always awkward without a dealer and usually just takes up space since most of my guys avoided sitting there when we didn’t have a dealer. Just my 2 cents

I host twice a week and deal. We used to split the duties between two of us (not on the same nights but when dealer two wasn’t playing).

Two sound dealers but as owner of the game, I have more skin in the game that things are done my way and that action is always moving.

I’m more focused on what everyone else is doing and my radar is better.

Bottom lines: pass the deal blows and a 10 man oval with two on each end puts two spots smack dab in the middle of each straightaway.

Pick a side dealer, no cutout for you!
