Decisions, decisions. Can somebody provide me some useful guidance here via PM? My options are 3:
(1) Abstain.
I have plenty of chips, use the same two sets over and over and this is a fairly significant purchase for a set that I may not put into play unless I am able to change my view on minty chips (which I work on every day internally). As part of my trying to convince myself this week that I need one of these sets, I have determined that I could and would put them into play the first game I hosted after receiving them so as to do away with the quandary. However, I MAY be lying to myself. It's too hard to tell.
(2) Purchase a .25/.50 set and add a rack or two of the $5s.
We play .25/.50 in an effort to keep the game friendly and to ensure that the game remains sustainable. If my players were loosing a couple of hundred bucks a couple of times a month, that could affect their willingness/ability to participate and could result in some hurt feelings. However, the game has started to grow in the recent months and has played more like .50/$1 or even $1/$2 on occasion. Assuming I will be able to put them into play, I want to make sure I can accommodate reasonable growth in stakes. Ours will never be a $2/$5 game with my current players.
(3) Purchase a $1/$2 set and add a rack of of fracs or NCV chips to serve as verisitle fracs.
Same reasoning as #2 above, but allowing for significantly more future growth.
