4 of a Kind
Guess poker wasn't a high priority at that sad point in history.I didn’t argue that.
But note also that at one time 90+% of humanity thought the sun went around the earth and illnesses could be cured by leeches.

YepThe overwhelming opinion here is to denominate, although I have two non denominated sets. I also have 4 denominated sets. It keeps players from asking how much each chip is worth, is the popular opinion.
& the only real reason to "non" denominate. I guess if your plan is to have only 1 set of chips and use them for multiple stakes then go for it.......The only con to denominations is flexibility to change colors with changing stakes......
This is a good point.I was playing dominoes with my inlaws. The pieces have colored pips. We mentioned the colors and my brother in law said "I thought they were all yellow and grey". We laughed about it cause he's a good sport. I forgot he's color blind. Always use denominations except for one of them, as your floater. That's easy to figure out. Something like 7-10% of men are color blind. There are different versions. Less than 1% of women are affected.
This one hit perfectly! Reading this thread it comes to mind... are we not trying to imulate casino quality in our home game sets? If not go ahead and grab some of these and save yourself a couple $$If you are going to the trouble of getting customs you should denominate. To me, denominations just show that bit of care in your customization that you are trying to emulate high quality casino chips but with your home game design. Your customs should have your confidence that these chips are always good as cash whenever you have them in play. Additionally, denominations allow for smoother game play as no one should be asking "what are these worth?" (But sometimes, they do anyway, once and we all get a laugh.)
The only con to denominations is flexibility to change colors with changing stakes. But to me, that would serve to just add confusion anyway. Get customs, figure out the range of stakes you would play, and denominate accordingly. Plenty of breakdown advice on PCF as well.
Good luck.
$20k to me is ridiculous. But hey, if you got the money so be it. A 1000 chip Tina set for under $600. 1000 chip CPC set for $1500-$2000.This one hit perfectly! I mean they got 4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon and absolutely Will serve their purpose. I personally grew up playing on these chips every single Friday and Saturday night for years and the chips lasted the test of time!
This forum... this hobby is about the finer things in life. They even make more than the red/white and Blues... you can get lots of colors and hell even write denoms on them with a sharpie... we have probably all seen it done, and honestly who on this forum hasn't played a home game that ran 100% successfully with dice chips?
No one is saying drop $20 plus k on a tourney set like this idiot did

Sure they are absolutely amazing and I love them more every single time I get them out... including this past weekend

Only one other chipper in the whole room that had any idea the value of the set we were playing... the rest were neighborhood dads that are just as happy playing Monte Carlo slugs.
But you ventured on to this site looking for the "next level" the "finer things in life" if you are willing to drop a few $k on a set of customs... the very slight "versatility of the ability to change values" absolutely does not out weigh the people asking all night long "how much is this?" Over and over and over that we have all witnessed using dice chips.
If you are willing to pay extra for quality chips... Definitely put denoms on them. Later you will be happy you did! Remember you want your game to resemble a night at the casino for your players.
What's ridiculous about that set is that it has not been used in my game yet. BEN !!!$20k to me is ridiculous. But hey, if you got the money so be it. A 1000 chip Tina set for under $600. 1000 chip CPC set for $1500-$2000.
It SOMEHOW STILL DOES NOT keep players from asking how much each chip is worth
Additionally, denominations NORMALLY OUGHT TO allow for smoother game play as no one WITH HALF A BRAIN should be asking "what are these worth?" But DESPITE WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT, they do anyway ALL THE TIME
Apologies for bringing down this average. And as a group, I think we’re actually kind of smart - probably on average triple digit IQs
Hmm. Smart enough to make a funny gif of a guy rolling around on a cracker, but too dumb to resist posting it. I declare it a draw.Apologies for bringing down this average.

I don't think you are the one bringing down the average.Apologies for bringing down this average.
I learned on these interlocking plastics myself. My uncle just had a random bucket with probably 500 of these mixed and matched since he was a kid. This one hit perfectly! So fair it hurts.Hmm. Smart enough to make a funny gif of a guy rolling around on a cracker, but too dumb to resist posting it. I declare it a draw.
Yes! This is why my game features filthy chips covered with “boogers”; a cocktail waitress who only comes around every 90 minutes then gets your order wrong; floor rulings which make absolutely no sense; air vents directly over the table which make it either way too hot or cold; overpriced food options that give you the runs for days afterward; dealers who allow their biggest tippers to comment on multiway hands in progress; and at least one reg at every table who talks loudly about politics and/or his sports bets for five hours straight
Thanks and hell of a nice set!!!Denominate but have a few nondenoms that can be flexible.
My frac is nondenom so it can be any frac. I also have another different rack of nondenom that would work as accompanying frac

As a guy who’s often ranting against the crowd, I appreciate his passion for an under-represented position.I am starting to get the feeling @Taghkanic has strong feelings about this.
Yep, if it's about the money, then a $13 set of interlocking plastic chips (which are dimensionally consistent and stack great, btw) plus a 59c Sharpie to add denominations of your choice (sorry @Taghkanic) are the true way to chip happiness. This one hit perfectly!
