Nope the villain, I had the nuts on the flop and turn.

Neither of you did anything wrong. In PL you would be the one that needs to be careful with no redraw since you could be getting freerolled since you don't have the Kh. But in limit, this was all pretty automatic. Even if he sees your hand he can't fold.

I completely agree it wasnt meant as a bad beat story but to highlight the different ways to play Omaha and how plo can let you protect your hand, although the villain likely would not have folded, even in plo. It can be expensive in fixed limit, I think the pot was like 500+ with only 3 way action to the flop.

Most of the NLHE games I see that are 1/2 have significantly smaller pots

Here’s an issue with Omaha - people who flop top straight and say they flopped the nuts. I’m no Anthony Martino, but I think you have to play plo with the mindset that a straight is never the nuts.

Sometimes it pays to wait until a safe turn to get it in with the nut straight. But since this limit rather than pot limit, you need to put those bets in when ahead

When people in my home game discuss wanting to play PLO, I keep trying to warn them that they have no idea how much faster they are going to go through money at the same blinds. But since no one wants to listen I've decided to try and run a big bet mix:

NLHE
PLO
NLHE
5 Card Single Draw Hi
NLHE
Dramaha
NLHE
2-7 Single

We'll see how people feel after that night.
In. :)
