Received this a week ago. First dedicated table I've owned (I've been using the Slowplay 10 player mat for many years), and I'm feeling a bit... mixed...

https://tritonpokertables.co.uk/col.../elite-10-player-poker-table-with-wood-finish

Note that I only bought the "Elite" version because it has been the only one in stock in the UK for well over 6 months, and this table appealed to me way more than any others I've seen - plus it said (it still says, in fact) it would ship "first week in December". It didn't... it shipped towards the end of the 3rd week in December, and there was little to no communication from the distributor (unless I chased).

Overall, the quality of the table is excellent - the folding and locking mechanism is brilliant, it's spacious, the legs and feet are fantastic, as are the locking wheels, and it's very sturdy (barely any wobble when locked out). These are all the things I chose this table for.

Now, the "bad" parts... if you've already looked at the pics, you might already have guessed most of these:

* The table has a 5 inch scratch on it, out of the box.
* The mat was crushed inside the box (the cardboard tube is flat at one end), and is wrinkled and indented beyond reprieve. I've left it flat for a week, and tried ironing it (with a tea towel between the mat and the iron), but it's still pretty wrinkled, and the indentations have not really gotten any better.
* There is a missing bolt for one side of the underside locking mechanism.
* The cup holders are not fit for purpose - only one type of glass we have in the house actually fits in there without falling over (a gin glass with a stocky bottom). It won't fit standard UK pint glasses, tumblers, wine glasses, or scotch glasses, and we don't own any thin highball glasses. God knows why the two-tier design was decided on when a flat bottom would have been much more appropriate?
* The table surface is extremely smooth - meaning that the mat moves about on it without much effort. The grip on the underside of the mat doesn't seem to be suitable for this finish. Hoping this won't be as much of a problem when chips and players are on the mat, though... but still not great.

As you can imagine, I've emailed the supplier about everything except the last point. Am I wrong to expect more for a £2800 table (£1600 in the "sale")?

Overall, I do like the table a lot, but I'm expecting them to resolve all of the above before I'm willing to accept it. I may be sending it back depending on their response (hoping they're about on Monday).

Had the same issue with one of their toppers I ordered through Amazon two years ago. Reached out to customer support and got two new ones right away.
Good to know. They have been a bit tardy with their communication here in England. I appreciate the table was probably shipped from China (or from a warehouse in the US?) and it's xmas, but the experience has been less than adequate so far :|

Hoping they solve the cup holder issue without too much fuss, because they are utterly useless as things stand.

For the cup holder I thi k that's just the design :(

As it is I think it's too think for a canned beer or soda but fits a bottle well

Hopefully they’ll get you all squared away. Still a nice upgrade. Find a table build thread and when Spring hits your part of the world (table building season) have a meeting with your main captains and make a plan.

Good luck.

I was considering building my own actually, but don't have the time tbh. What I might do, is wait until this table is knackered, then reuse what I can :)

I'm pretty sure I'm the only "captain" in our group :)

I can do a nice custom 80” x 38” table topper for you (same size as your stock may) which will look way better than that stock one anyway. Hit me up via DM if you’re interested.

For reference, I got only the table topper last year, and this is what it looked like straight out of the packaging (some smooth ‘ripples’, mainly at the inner end where it rolled up). This is completely flat now, however yours does look a lot worse, I didn’t have the hard straight crease where it got crushed:

You’ll find the time at some point. In the meantime the Barrington will serve you well.

What? Every manager needs at least one confidante. One “Captain.” Get cracking.

A custom mat for my Barrington table sounds like it’s exactly what I need. Is there a big price difference for doing a solid black felt, as opposed to something like an FSU logo on it?

Good to know, thanks. What would the shipping to the UK be, though?

I mean, I speak to one person (and my wife, who also plays) about some bits I'm getting, but I kinda like to surprise everyone :)

Yeah, keep the “bits” convo between you and the backer… Game business, that’s where your captains are useful.

"Backer"? This is just for a friendly home game with friends...

Ah ok :)

Please translate "Captains" and "Game business" for me too? :)
Sure.

“Captains” (at GFC) are the trusted members of your crew with whom you discuss “Game Business” such as scheduling, structure, personnel issues, rulings that have been made in-session and so on and so forth.

As much as hosts would like to manage democratically (or at least keep the optics of a democratic pretense in place) it’s not sustainable. All players needs cannot be met on the matters that I referred to as game business and even when the majority makes their voice known there are two factors that need to be considered. Factor one; do those that make up the majority have the experience to know if their desires are good for the game presently and in the long run? The second factor is that it’s the hosts game and they have veto power.

The combination of experience (most hosts are well-endowed in this area) and the veto power is just one of several benefits of spreading your own game. Players benefit as well from these two metrics.

Believe me, these two components do not outweigh or even counterbalance the trials and tribulations of hosting on the regular.

Thankfully, it’s a labor of love.

Thanks!

Re Captains; realised this a long time ago. I do discuss some things with some players, but generally what I say goes. One other player has hosted their own games in the past, so I speak to them occasionally, but they also want things to happen that most other players do not - for example, they have talked about introducing rebuys, creating a "side pot" for the league final, and increasing the buy-ins, but that would put a lot of people off.

As you said, it's not a democracy; I'm the one that outlays all the costs and puts all the effort in, so they can sit down and shut up ;) Of course I'm a little more democratic than that (though sometimes not much!), but regardless of how much I try to please, I get labelled a dictator anyway, so I've embraced it. That tends to be the case in most kinds of leadership position, though.

Absolutely a labour of love, yeah - I just like having people over, cooking for them, and making the experience as fun as possible. I personally absolutely love the game of poker - the money is nice, but it's not as important as the game itself to me.

I sense you’re a host that speaks my language.

Remember, I said the “optics” of a democratic state. You are spot on though; your game is your game.

Experienced hosts find a way to continue to spread the game they want and deliver the messaging and keep everyone happy and coming back.

Found another blemish... the cover has a hole in it :|

Also, attempted to flatten the felt by cutting some cardboard to size, and putting weight on it for over a week, but it's still wavy.

No response from Triton Tables UK yet - I will be chasing up on Tuesday if I've not heard anything by COB on Monday :|

You're right to be frustrated, thats a premium product. Bummer, keep following up; we have to be a decent chunk of their target audience.

@GoJo_Dingo had similar things happen, and they responded by gifting him a ceramic chip set that retails for $299 on both their website and Amazon. I hope you can get something out of this to make it worth the hassle

It was actually the 300 piece set for $199, the 500 piece set is $299.
But they made it right, I understand these tables are not $5000 tables but a good value for the price. I'd rather have it than the $299 table Costco was selling.

This is Triton UK, and the support seems quite dire if I'm honest. I've sent a reminder email today as I've still heard nothing back in just over 2 weeks (though I can forgive a certain amount for the xmas break).

They've got back to me and (after a bit of negotiation) offered me:

* A new mat
* A new cover
* A "free" pack of cards (though they are doing this for all orders at present)

They've also said they will "send me a replacement cup holder", but I'm not entirely sure what this means - I feel like they haven't read my emails properly and they think one of them is just damaged...

I'm also speaking to both US and UK support, so there seems to be some crossed wires somewhere.

Well, I have to say, this whole experience has been dreadful.

After a week of speaking to the US Triton (they have been placating me, offering me extra packs of cards [it got up to 8?!] and keeping me up to date), they finally realised they couldn't help me at all, so referred me back to the utterly useless UK Triton people.

I still haven't received any items, and communication has been next to zero (from the UK people). Yesterday I asked to return the item, and today they just sent me the same response that they sent me over a week ago:

We sincerely apologize for the delayed response.

The cup sizes provided are our standard measurements for all our tables.

Regarding scratch, once you place a mat over the scratch, it won't be visible anymore. The mat will cover the damaged area, effectively hiding it from view.

However, the table cover is currently out of stock. A new shipment is expected within the next 1-2 months. As soon as the stock is replenished, we will arrange for the table cover to be sent to you along with a complimentary pack of cards.

We are sending you a mat and a pack of cards free of cost.

Regards,

Triton Poker Table

As you can imagine, my response to this was... sarcastic... to say the least. This is a carbon copy of what they sent a week ago, absolutely zero effort seems to have been put into managing this.

Anyway, I have reiterated today that I want to return the item with a full refund, and I want a response with clear instructions by the end of today, otherwise I'll be speaking to the Financial Ombudsman and / or my credit card company to get my money back.

I appreciate some of you may be OK with what they've responded with, but it's been utterly terrible, esp considering that they are not acknowledging the scratch to be significant (I mean, they're technically correct about the mat hiding the scratch, but what's the point in the fancy finish at all if it's blemished out of the box?), the cup holders are utterly useless (will cost me £100+ to replace), and as it stands, you just can't deal cards on that mat without them flipping over...

I've found a local joiner that builds tables. They come with a raised rail, cup holders, and an LED strip, and they fold, for about £500 less... and he can do it in 12 days... so that's a bit of a no brainer. Only thing I'm worried about is table stability. I wouldn't even consider getting a different table if the customer service hadn't been so crap.
