True clay?? (1 Viewer)

At 16 cents per, I cannot imagine they're anywhere close clay - China or otherwise.

$4 for a sample isn't a bad start. No way I'd buy a whole set, sight unseen.

I have samples. If you want em you can have them. be warned. they are absolute rubbish. The have another line on the same site that isn't, for the price. The Monacos. If he wants them I have quite a few for sale....cheap. Some don't have labels, some do. The blue ones I have are still in their packaging. These are perfect if you want custom labels...

I have black, blue, grey and orange but would have to do a count. Its easily in the 400 range total

I'll let him know. Thanks for the input. I'm trying to get him to buy these but he's not a fan of initials

How do they handle, like china clays? And are you saying the labels can be removed?
Thanks

Oh, to answer the OP, I agree with Quicksilver. I had samples of those and they are hard plastic. The only thing different about them is they have crosshatching on them which initially leads you to think they may be good, but they aren't. I threw away my samples.

They are slugged. @11g. So I don't want to sound misleading. They are what they are. In saying that, yes they are plastic. And there are two runs of these things. Somewhere along the line the formula changed. I have some that are quite slippery. Much like a nexgen. The (assuming) newer ones stack and grip like bricks. If you're curious I can mail you samples. I originally bought these as well solution to a larger multi-table crowd that has no respect for my collection.

Thanks! But I won't put you through the trouble. I was mainly curious about "cheaper" options. I should know better too, given my experience. I guess china clays are the "cheap option"

Yeah. Even my normal crowd can tell the difference between the paulsons and cheapies. It's funny though because one of our last games was a road trip so another guy could host. I took my Silver Club/Monacos there and the guys went nuts for them.

I happen to actually like China clays despite having several top tier sets now. I guess I feel like I can be tougher with them and not worry that they are irreplaceable.

Although I have custom ABS, custom ceramics, custom China clay, and custom CPC, I love all of them (well... except the ABS chips - but don't tell them). I also have a set of RTPs (or BJs, I guess the jury is still out) on their way.

I love rotating the sets. Very different feel, something to like about each and every one. Sure, the CPCs are the flagship set and get the most table time these days because they coast the most (and look fawsome), but without getting the other sets in play I may become spoiled and forget how nice CPC chips really are.

Can't eat filet mignon every day. Have to have some soup and crackers sometimes.
