Tyson vs Paul (2 Viewers)

Despite suspicions that this fight would be nothing but a glorified sparring match, I re-subscribed to Netflix yesterday so I could watch. Such is the power and pull of the name “Tyson” for those of us who grew up watching him. The man transcends his sport in ways that few athletes ever do.

Alas, it was a sad spectacle in the end, but it does nothing to tarnish the memories of Tyson at his peak. I just hope no one lets him get the idea of fighting again.

Jake Paul is what he is. Great at generating publicity and earning money. But a boxer he is not.

I'm confused, I said there would be no interest in a rematch. That's my point.

Where's the misunderstanding?
I think it’s with you. I’m not misunderstanding anything. There’s no point to a rematch, nobody would care.

If it helps you with your day, you are right, there was no attempt to set up a mega dollar rematch because nobody would care who Tyson fights. You said it first so you win I guess. I can change my opinion if you want to argue about who is mostest right.

A Tyson/Foreman fight might work, two old men shuffling around throwing out “your momma” jokes.

Jake kinda reminds me if Connor McGregor.

Best fight was Serrano-Taylor, and I dunno, it was close but I thought Taylor won FWIW.

2nd best fight might be next week if Netflix tries to blame AWS for some of the buffering and streaming failures. The servers are Amazon. They are competing for NFL streaming. I wanna see action let’s gooo

Edit: just writing the word makes it a link? Wild

Thanks for posting that link. I just spent $200

I went to bed but I heard it got better at some point. I wonder if the servers crashed and then was okay afterwards since it started with 0 connections again.

I thought the same about Taylor/Serrano. It was a great fight with too much ref invovlement, but it's certainly not a robbery. Surprised at how many people are upset, but it happens; judges don't like blood and cuts no matter how impartial they try to be, and you've got to beat the champ decisively. The irony of a headbutt being controversial on a card with Tyson is fantastic, Holyfield had a battering ram of a melon.

@Budha ayo! Agreed, I had Barrios winning clearly but a good back and forth fight. Always a bummer when one judge has a fighter up 6 points and its a split decision, let alone a draw.

Some real heart by both guys, I've never seen a fight with two Mexican fighters and been disappointed.

Agree, the scoring was interesting - lol. I had them really close at the end. Barrrios clearly had the first 3-5 rounds, so it probably favored him in the end.

I wasn’t terribly upset by the split decision though -TBH. Yeah, those guys fought hard and I thought it was a both a great battle as well as a good technical fight!

I’d watch a rematch for sure :cool

Jake Paul better save his Pennie’s, fool me once. I have never had a desire to watch any of his fights, if that’s how his biggest fight went- why would I ever care to watch again. UFC tonight, even the scrubs are better than every one of those fights.

I'd watch any of his fights just to see his teeth get knocked in. I can't stand him or his brother.

That's the thing though. He meticulously chooses his opponents where he knows he will have a clear advantage (Tyson Fury being the exception.) Supposedly he wants to fight Canelo Alvarez next.
To me that sounds like an intriguing and interesting fight that I’d love to watch

I was talking to friends, and I think the best fight for Jake Paul to consider is Deontay Wilder right now.

Wilder is a big enough name to garner some attention and he’s really not that technically sound. Problem for Jake Paul is that Wilder has 2 sticks of dynamite on his wrists.

It’s a chance for Wilder to restart and an opportunity for Jake (even though he doesn’t always fight at this weight).
