So here's the side by side I promised. Old chip (batch ???) on the left, new batch 5 chip on the right. There is a noticeable improvement in print quality for batch 5. The print is sharper, and the light colored background is less grainy. If I can get a decent side-by-side shot later, I'll post it.
There was a lengthy discussion about this in one of the MANY CM threads. If I remember which one, I'll post a link. Also, did anyone else notice that the batch 5 chips are on a new mold? The cards on the batch 5 chips are slightly skinnier and have rounded corners.
The rounder card corners are the original chips I first received from Bosco, and easily the superior version. It also has a matte edge finish, and little to no spinners. So here's the side by side I promised. Old chip (batch ???) on the left, new batch 5 chip on the right.
As I mentioned before, the printing on the newer chips appears sharper, and the background is less grainy/mottled. Also, the printing didn't get down into the "inlay" ring on the old chips like it does on the new ones. All changes for the better IMO.
