Weekend getaway to an upstate cottage with the Mrs. in the Hudson Valley. Started at the Angry Orchard which got things off to a rollicking start at noon Friday.
Took the tours of FDR’s home Springwood, the Presidential library and museum and the Vanderbilt mansion. Spent a solid 3 hrs in that library and museum. Unexpectedly fascinating, even for huge history, documentary, FDR and Eleanor buffs like we are.
Lots of little eateries around but its hard to be impressed when you’re native to New York City and the boroughs. Only thing we couldn’t fit in that we wanted to was a performance of Richard II by Hudson Valley Shakespeare. The outdoor performance space is amazing. Once saw Macbeth there on a rainy, thunderstorming night and it was chill-inducing. Overall, a fun trip to peace and quiet from the kids. Headed to a flea market now to see what we see...
